MNF Odds – Chargers Continue Push For Fifth-Straight AFC West Title
November 22, 2010
It seems as though around this time every year with the critics pointing out the faults in the San Diego Chargers and head coach Norv Turner, the team manages to go on a hot streak and turn their season around just in time to clinch the AFC West betting division.
After losing five of their first seven games, San Diego won two in a row before their bye last week to pull to just one game behind the division lead. The Chargers continue their drive for five straight division titles this week, when they host the Denver Broncos.

Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers
Monday November 22, 2010 – 8:30 PM ET
Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, California
Broadcast: ESPN
MNF Odds: Broncos +9.5, Chargers -9.5
Total: 50.5
The Broncos are the only team currently on the outside looking in, in the AFC West division race even despite a 49-29 blowout win over the first place Kansas City Chiefs last weekend. Denver is a game back of San Diego and two back of the lead in the division heading in to this weekend, but can make up the difference with three games against AFC West opponents in their next five.
MNF Odds: What The Broncos Will Have To Do To Win?
Quarterback Kyle Orton threw for 296 yards and four touchdowns while registering a 131.5 passer rating in the win over the Chiefs, and if he can somehow manage to duplicate that feat the Broncos won’t have a problem this week. He didn’t do it alone however as running back Knowshon Moreno rushed for 106 yards to help overcome the 29 points allowed by the Denver defense. While the offense will need another solid effort, the Broncos won’t be able to get away with allowing the Chargers’ offense as much time to operate as they did Kansas City.
MNF Odds: What The Chargers Will Have To Do To Win?
The Chargers are averaging 312.4 passing yards per game with Phillip Rivers under center, as he has emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the league this season. With the running game stalling behind a poor offensive line, San Diego will need Rivers to do his best with tight end Antonio Gates and receiver Malcolm Floyd, who have combined for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Chargers’ defense ranks in the top-five against both the run and pass, and will need to find a way to get after Orton to prevent him from carving them up the way he did to the Chiefs.
MNF Odds: Outlook & Pick
The Chargers are rounding in to form once again, and given their history in November and December under Turner, it would not be a surprise to see them overcome the Raiders and Chiefs for a fifth straight AFC West title. Division games are usually close, but with San Diego firing from all angles it is hard to envision them losing at home to a Denver team that has been inconsistent all year.
MNF Odds Pick: Chargers -9.5
