MLB Weekend Series Betting – Texas Rangers at New York Yankees

April 13, 2011

Amid many great series this weekend, the best stop for Major League Baseball betting fans is the three-game matchup at Yankee Stadium for bragging rights in the American League, as the hot Texas Rangers take on New York.

Texas Rangers at New York Yankees

Game One – Friday, April 15 at 7:05 PM

Game Two – Saturday, April 16 at 1:05 PM

Game Three – Sunday, April 17 at 8:05 PM

The Rangers are off to a fantastic start on the season, showing baseball-betting fans everywhere that last season was no fluke.  However, despite solid play, taking on the Yankees in the Bronx will be a true test of the Texas character.

The projected starters for Game One include Matt Harrison for the Rangers against the ace CC Sabathia for the Yankees. Harrison has two wins on the season with an ERA of 1.29. In his two victories against Boston and Baltimore, Harrison has allowed two runs on seven hits with 11 strikeouts.

In three starts this season, Sabathia has taken two no-decisions and one loss.  Not exactly what the Yankees were hoping for from the star of their rotation, but Sabathia is always a force to be reckoned with. Currently with an ERA of 1.45, Sabathia has allowed 17 hits and three earned runs to match his 17 K’s.

The pitching matchups for the remaining games have yet to be announced at the time of this writing.

However, the Rangers have more than solid pitching as part of their forte. Although the team had doubts as to the strength of the tail end of its rotation: so far, so good.  Texas has gotten solid performances from right-hander Alexi Ogando, and lefties Matt Harrison and Derek Holland.

But perhaps the greatest asset of the Rangers is the slew of consistent batters; namely Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler, Adrian Beltre, Michael Young and Nelson Cruz, all of whom has been solid so far.

New York, hovering right above .500 on the season, has struggled at plate; the most emphatic example being the 18+ hitless streak of Mark Teixeira and the 17+ at-bats with no hits for Jorge Posada, now playing in the designated hitter position.

The series should offer great betting odds and exciting baseball action, as most American League rivalries do not disappoint.  Between the all-time great Yankees and the defending American League champion Rangers however, put your dollar on Texas to take at least two out of three in this series.

Texas has the star power in both the lineup and in the rotation and is already playing to their potential, while New York….well, we’ll have to wait and see if they come around later in the season.
