MLB Week 10 Hot or Not – Incendiary Halos Still on Top, Woeful Pirates Certainly Are Not

June 14, 2010

The streaking LA Angels sit atop baseball’s ‘Hot or Not’ list for the second consecutive week as they make their move up the AL West standings.

While the Chicago Cubs have removed themselves from this week’s ‘Not’ list, the woeful Pittsburgh Pirates have not, entering the week as the only team in baseball to lose each of its last five games.

This week’s hot or not list should give MB betting enthusiasts everywhere an excellent idea of just which teams to wager on – and which ones to stay away from or bet against.

Hot – These teams have won at least four of their last five games heading into Monday night’s action.

LA Angels 4-1
Despite losing its best player in Kendry Morales, the Angels have won four of five – and 13 of 16 overall to move just one-half game behind Texas for second place in the AL West.

Chicago White Sox 4-1
The ChiSox are still just over seven games out of first place in the AL Central, but Ozzie Guillen’s ballclub had its four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday.

Texas Rangers 4-1
The Rangers have won two straight, five of six and seven of its last 10 games overall thanks to the heroics of big-boppers Vladimir Guerrero and Josh Hamilton. Now if the Rangers can get some consistent pitching, then they’ll really be in business!

NY Mets 4-1
The Mets have won four straight and eight of its last nine heading into the new week, but spanked up on pitiful Baltimore and mediocre Florida in order to do so.

Cleveland 4-1
The Indians had their four-game winning streak snapped in Sunday’s convincing 9-4 loss to Washington … enough said about one of baseball’s most disappointing franchises the last few seasons.

NY Yankees 4-1
The Yankees have won three straight and six of seven to move into a first place tie with Tampa Bay for the first time this season. Oh, and the Yanks did most of this damage without an injured Alex Rodriguez.

Not – These teams have lost at least four of their last five contests heading into the new week.

Pittsburgh 0-5
The lowly Pirates have lost nine straight games and sit a whopping 17 games under .500 at the time of this writing.

Toronto 1-4
The Blue Jays have lost three straight and six of its last seven games overall and just can not afford to pull such stunts in the powerful AL East.

Baltimore 1-4
The lowly Orioles are on the Not list (again), this time losing three straight, five of six and eight of its last 10 games overall. Where’s Cal Ripken when you need him, huh?

Seattle 1-4
The Mariners managed to snap a five-game losing streak on Sunday by beating San Diego 4-2, but the fact of the matter is that Seattle just doesn’t have the offensive firepower to beat many teams, despite having two Cy Young-caliber hurlers in Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee.

Oakland 1-4
The A’s have lost three straight and five of seven overall after running into the San Francisco Giants and LA Angels.

St. Louis 1-4
The Cardinals have lost two straight and six of its last seven games overall heading into the new week despite having two of the best starting pitchers in the NL in Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter.
