MLB Saturday Odds – Cubs and Silva Will be Favored in the MLB Sportsbook

Who would have believed that Carlos Silva, the throw in for the Cubs Milton Bradley to Seattle Mariners trade this past off-season, would be spoken about in the same breath as Roy Halladay?; But, that’s what baseball fans have to do because Silva is 8 and 0 with a 2.93 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP.

Silva has won 6 straight starts for the Cubs.; He’s allowed only 12 runs total in those 6 starts and 1 run and 6 hits in his last 2 starts.; Silva is going to be a big favorite this Saturday when the Cubs host the Chicago White Sox in interleague play.

But is Silva a good baseball bet to win his 9th game of the season?

I’m not sure how big of a favorite Carlos Silva and the Chicago Cubs will be on Saturday, but it’s definitely going to be at -150 or above.; The baseball betting odds on the Cubs might go all the way up to -200 because the White Sox send a pitcher to the mound that most sports gamblers are going to shun.

Mark Buehrle used to be a feared flamethrower for the ChiSox.; Not anymore.; Buehrle is 3 and 6 with a 5.40 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP.; He’s given up 20 hits and 12 runs in only 8.1 innings pitched in his last 2 starts.

What sort of chance do the White Sox have against the fantastic Silva with Buehrle on the mound?; A big chance, actually.

From May 7th to May 26th, Buehrle gave up only 9 runs in 24.1 innings pitched.; He can pitch a good game here and there and still has enough good stuff to keep his team in contention. At least, I’m hoping he does.

Silva is 8 and 0 but there have been moments where Carlos has almost given up the farm.; Against Texas on May 23rd, he allowed 6 hits and 3 runs and lasted only 5.1 innings.;Against Cincinnati on May 7th, he allowed 10 hits and 4 runs and lasted only 5 innings Against Arizona on May 1st, he allowed 8 hits and 5 runs and lasted only 5 innings.

Carlos has been good, don’t get me wrong, but he’s also gotten lucky in a few of those 8 victories.; The Cubs have played great for him, racking up runs when he’s needed it, and that, more than anything, has led to the 8 victories.

There’s something else to note about Silva in this game.; He spent years in the A.L.; Most of those years weren’t very good.; He faces an A.L. team on Saturday.

Could that work in the White Sox’s favor?; Their batters should have some idea as to how Silva is going to pitch.; That might give the White Sox batters a chance against the Cubs on Saturday.

That’s the way I’m going to play it. The Chicago White Sox are going to be big underdogs in the MLB sportsbook when they face the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.

I’m taking a big baseball betting swing on the White Sox.; I’m going to go ahead and bet them to upset the Cubs.
