MLB Predictions: Tallet leads Toronto to 6th straight win in home opener
April 12, 2010
Our MLB predictions for Monday night take us north of the border where the Toronto Blue Jays will open up their 2010 home schedule against the Chicago White Sox.
The White Sox snapped a string of four straight losses yesterday afternoon at home where they tallied a 5-4 come from behind victory against the Minnesota Twins.
Manager Cito Gaston’s Blue Jays have gotten off to a fabulous start to their baseball betting season, and enter tonight’s home opener winners of five in a row after most recently sweeping the division rival Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. With nearly a $600 return on the year, the Blue Jays are the best bet in baseball through one week of action.

Toeing the bump for the second time this season for manager Ozzie Guillen will be righty Jake Peavy.
The White Sox lost his first start ever against Cleveland while donning a Southsiders uniform, but he ended up grabbing the no decision. He threw a total of 106 pitches through just five innings of work allowing seven hits and three ER’s while striking out five and walking a pair.
This will be his first career start against Toronto.
Opposing the righty will be the Blue Jays Brian Tallet who will be looking to build off his solid showing in Arlington where he led his squad to the 7-4 road victory. He allowed just four hits (2 HR) and four runs (2 ER) through 6.2 innings of work striking out six and walking three.
Toronto has now won each of his L/3 starts dating back to last season, and they’re yet to lose in each of his L/3 Rogers Centre starts.
He participated in a laugher in April last season against the White Sox in a game the Blue Jays won 14-0. He allowed just four hits and ended up with a 5/3 K/BB ratio through 5.2 innings of work.
MLB Baseball Insider Tip: If you’ve made MLB predictions on the Blue Jays in the recent season series against the White Sox, you’ve made a mint. The BJ’s are 16-4 SU the L/20 overall meetings between these clubs, and they’ve rattled off 10 straight wins against them at home heading into tonight’s confrontation.
I always say ride the horse until it dies! With as well as the Blue Jays are playing right now, why look to fade them. I don’t think they’ll continue to play at this level throughout the entirety of the season, but I also don’t see any reason to jump off the bandwagon just yet.
Chicago has failed miserably against lefties of late winning just twice in their L/9 tries. Parlay that with the fact that Toronto’s 7-1 its L/8 home games dating back to last season, and you’ve got a recipe for what looks to be as good an underdog to back on tonight’s MLB predictions slate.
My MLB Prediction: Toronto (Tallet)
