MLB Odds – Giants to Win Game 2 over Dodgers

April 1, 2011

After the defending World Series champions dropped their opening game of the season last night, the Giants are ready for Game Two in the MLB odds behind the arm of ace Jonathan Sanchez.

San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California

Friday, April 1 @ 10:10 PM ET

TV: CSBA, FSPT

MLB Odds:

San Francisco +1.5 -210

Los Angeles -1.5 +175

The Dodgers are hoping to improve to 2-0 tonight to reach their best start in the past 12 years by sending right-handed Chad Billingsley to the rubber. Los Angeles defeated San Francisco 2-1 in Opening Day play last night, and Billingsley might be the man to get the job done again tonight, as he is 4-1 with a 1.30 ERA at home versus the Giants.

The Los Angeles bats were ready for the regular season, managing six hits led by Matt Kemp in yesterday’s game off star pitcher Tim Lincecum.

However, the Dodgers must face southpaw Jonathan Sanchez tonight, who posted his best season so far in baseball last season and is hoping to go even further this year. Sanchez posted 13 wins a 3.07 ERA in the 2010 campaign. But Sanchez struggled last postseason despite the Giants’ success and will have to prove tonight that he’s back on track.

Sanchez needs to find his consistency, and will need a better fielding effort by his teammates to get the W tonight. The Giants committed three errors in their first game. Sanchez will have to get on top of his pitches early and hope to avoid long innings with great defensive plays.

The Giants were the MLB odds pick to win this four-game series convincingly, but are now behind the curve. San Francisco gave Game One away with its errors. If the Giants can regain their composure tonight, they will pull out the win in the MLB odds, as San Francisco is the stronger team and starting the better overall pitcher.
