In Game 1 of this series on Monday, it was the Diamondbacks who brought the heavy lumber, as they roughed up starter A.J. Burnett for seven earned runs in four innings, including six alone in the first.

And that’s where we’ll start Tuesday’s betting preview, with the big bats of Arizona. Because despite their last place positioning in the NL West, this team can hit. Currently they rank eighth in baseball in runs per game, averaging 4.77, and are third in team home runs with 86. Leading the way is lumbering third baseman Mark Reynolds, who hit his 17th bomb of the season on Monday night, and has already driven in 48 runs on the season. Justin Upton and Kelly Johnson have added 13 home runs each, while Chris Young has hit 12 and also leads the Diamondbacks with 49 RBI. It’s no wonder that Burnett struggled against this lineup Monday, they are deep and talented.

The man asked to slow the red-hot Diamondbacks down is veteran lefty Andy Pettitte. Despite having recently turned 38, Pettitte appears to be showing no signs of slowing down. He is 8-2 on the season, and leads a talented Yankees staff with a 2.47 ERA. Pettitte hasn’t given up more than two earned runs in his last five starts.

He’ll be opposed on the bump by another ace in the hole, Dan Haren. Despite his surprising 4.75 ERA, Haren has still managed to win seven games on the young season, which tops the Arizona staff. He did struggle in his last outing in Boston though, where he gave up four earned runs in 5.2 innings, getting the loss.

And it’s because of Haren’s struggles, that the Yankees should be your Tuesday night baseball bet.

The Yankees enter this game with one of the deepest and most talented rosters in the game and will tee off on Haren. Robinson Cano is having an MVP type season, batting .315 with 14 home runs and 49 RBI, with Mark Teixeira and Nick Swisher adding 12 and 11 home runs respectively. Throw Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and Brett Gardner into the mix against Haren, and the Yankees should have no problem putting runs across the board.

While the Diamondbacks may have looked like the team which is 16 games over .500 on Monday night, it is the Yankees who are baseball’s defending World Series champs. They’ll look like it on Tuesday, and seal you a big run line victory. Make them your baseball bet.

Aaron’s Pick: New York Run Line (-1 ½, +105)
