MLB Game Day – St. Louis Cardinals vs. Atlanta Braves

The St. Louis Cardinals, ranked #1 in the MLB Power Rankings, take on the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night in the second of a three game series. On Monday the Cardinals beat the Braves 3 to 2. Things should be close to the same on Tuesday night as St. Louis, one of the hottest teams in MLB right now, send pitcher Kyle Lohse to the mound. Lohse is 3 and 0 with a 2.42 ERA. His WHIP is a fantastic .96.

The Braves counter Lohse with pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes. In contrast to Lohse, Reyes has been awful this season when racking up a 0-1 record, 7.94 ERA, and a 1.76 WHIP. Reyes is going to really have to step it up to take down the super hot Cardinals who have scored no less than 3 runs in their last 10 games.

Here is the BetUS online sportsbook betting line for this game.

St. Louis Cardinals

Kyle Lohse – R -1 ½ +145 -120 O 9 ½ +105 O/U 4 ½ -115

Atlanta Braves

Jo-Jo Reyes – L +1 ½ -165 Ev U 9 ½ -125 O/U 4 -125/-105

Here are a few online wagering trends for this game.

The St. Louis Cardinals are 13-3 in their last 16 games as the favorite.

The St. Louis Cardinals are 5 and 1 in their last 6 meetings in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Braves are 4 and 9 in their last 13 games on grass.

The Atlanta Braves are 0 and 6 in Jo-Jo Reyes last 6 starts at home.

This comes down to a simple question. Is Kyle Lohse’s knee healthy enough for him to throw with the same velocity that he has in the past the three games he has pitched? Lohse is having a knee issue, but supposedly it shouldn’t prevent him from being at the top of his game in this.

If he is at the top of his game, then forget it. Lohse is too good and the Cardinals are batting too well for the Braves to get close to them in this.

St. Louis and Lohse should win this game on the run line.

That’s the bet that I will be making. I have to assume that manager Tony LaRussa wouldn’t put Lohse onto the mound unless he thought that Lohse could pitch at his best.

I’ll be making a wager on the run line that Kyle Lohse and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Atlanta Braves at -1 ½ +145 in the BetUS Sportsbook.
