MLB Futures Odds – Twins and Angels Season Predictions

March 21, 2011

Which teams will be on top of the Major League Baseball standings at the end of the 2011 regular season? BetOnline.com has futures odds posted for regular season win totals, and it’s time to start placing bets before Opening Day.

Let’s take a look at the Minnesota Twins of the American League Central and the Los Angeles Angels of the American League West.

Regular Season Wins:

Minnesota Twins

Over 86 wins -110

Under 86 wins -120

Los Angeles Angels

Over 83 wins -115

Under 83 wins -115

The Twins won the AL Central last season with 94 wins, but were easily swept by the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series, putting an early end to the Twins’ postseason hopes.

The team is led by the bat of designated hitter Jim Thome. The team finished the 2010 season with a lead of a handful of games, finishing six games ahead of the second-place Chicago White Sox.

The Twins looks to remain steady this upcoming season and are once again in the odds to win the AL Central. Even with less wins that last season, the Twins are a safe bet to get over 86 wins on the season.

MLB Futures Odds – Take the Over with Minnesota -110!

The Angels, on the other hand, look to turn things around this season, after finishing a dismal third in the American League West behind the Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics. The Angels had previously dominated the division, but were marred by injuries.

With a healthy 2011 season, and strengthened by one of the best pitching staffs in the American League, the Angels look able to recapture their throne atop the division. With names like Jered Weaver, Dan Haren, and Ervin Santana in the bullpen, the Angels should be able to shut down most offenses.

However, the Angels did lose the bats of Carl Crawford and Andre Beltre in the offseason. But if the Angels can add a strong bat to the lineup before the trade deadline, expect this team to easily cover 83 wins on the season.

MLB Futures Odds – Take the Over with Los Angeles -115!
