In a weekend packed with Major League Baseball, BetOnline highlights a matchup sure to be entertaining in the American League as the Boston Red Sox travel to California to go up against the Los Angeles Angels in a three-game series.

Boston Red Sox at Los Angeles Angels
Game Times: Friday at 10:05 PM ET, Saturday at 9:05 PM ET and Sunday at 3:35 PM ET
The Red Sox are a far cry from the preseason favorite the team was just a month ago. With a struggling starting rotation and bats that haven’t found the ball, the team has so far only put together five wins.
However, Boston has shown signs of progress, taking two games of three from the New York Yankees at home as well as two of three from the Toronto Blue Jays this past weekend. The pitching has improved among the likes of Daisuke Matsuzaka, Josh Beckett and Jon Lester, all of whom pitched solid in the Toronto series.
But MLB betting fans realize that Boston is so far 0-6 on the road, and playing at Angel Stadium will no walk in the park. Los Angeles is 4-2 at home on the season; not stellar, but way above .500. The Red Sox will have to play the kind of ball the team has not yet shown this season to get a win on the road against the Angels.
Game 1 Pitching Matchup:
BOS J. Lester (1-1, ERA 3.20) vs. LAA D. Haren (4-0, 1.16)
Lester gave the Red Sox six strong innings in Boston’s 8-1 win over Toronto last Sunday. Allowing only six hits and one run, Lester struck out five. In Lester’s four starts on the season, he has taken one loss and two no-decisions along with one win. With a season ERA of 3.20, Lester has given up 22 hits on the season.
Haren, on the other hand, has begun the season with a stellar 4-0 record with five starts. Over 31 complete innings pitched on the season, Haren has allowed only 18 hits and four runs. In addition, he has notched a high 27 strike-outs on the season.
The Game 1 matchup should easily go to the Angels. Playing at home behind the arm of Haren is a no-brainer, as Boston has yet to show that its lineup can compete with this caliber of pitching.
The pitching matchups for Games 2 and 3 will be announced later in the week as the teams finish their early-week series. But keep your eye on the Red Sox-Angels series this upcoming weekend, as the Sportsbook is sure to offer great odds for baseball bettors to cash in on.
The best bet for this MLB betting weekend series is on the Los Angeles Angels to dominate as one of the former kings of the American League continues to falter.
