MLB Betting – MLB’s Hottest Teams
The MLB sports betting regular season is now a couple weeks old and the following teams have been red hot for MLB bettors at BetOnline Sportsbook to kick off the proceedings…
(RANK) (TEAM) (SU RECORD) (SU RECORD L/5 +$$)
1) Los Angeles Dodgers (10-3) (5-0 SU L/5 +$500): After getting off to a slow start winning just two of their first five games, the Dodgers offense exploded which in turn has Manny and company slated as the hottest ticket in town for MLB bettors. Sunday afternoon’s 14-2 beat down of the division rival Colorado Rockies saw LA capture its eighth straight victory. The first two came in the underdog role at Arizona (+110 & +135), but they then took care of business as home chalks in the -145 to -180 range before pounding the Rockies as -117 favorites to close out the six-game home stand. Manager Joe Torre’s club proudly boasts the #1 ranked team batting average in baseball (.302), and their 6.31 run per game average and .867 OPS rank third respectively in both categories. Making the offense even harder for opponents to contain is the fact that they’ve already swiped 14 bases (#4). The defense has committed just four errors (#5), and the pitching staff has been dominant currently ranked 4th with a team ERA of 3.16, 1st with a WHIP of 1.10, and 5th with 102 K’s. Throughout its six-game home stand, the Dodgers allowed a total of 17 runs while scoring a combined 50 of their own. LA should be able to take care of the weak hitting Houston Astros this week before possibly running into trouble at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies.
2) Boston Red Sox (7-6) (5-0 SU L/5 +$500): The BoSox got off to a dreadful start to their 2009 MLB betting season by dropping two of three to both Tampa Bay and the Los Angeles angels of Anaheim. After dropping the first two in their series against Oakland, the Red Sox dished out an 8-2 thumping and haven’t lost since. Leave it to the Baltimore Orioles pitching staff to get an offense out of a funk, but a win is a win anyway you cut it and Boston will take ‘em anyway it can with Toronto exploding out of the gates. Both the offense and defense have been average; the team boasts the 13th ranked team batting average (.268) and the 15th ranked team ERA of 4.47. Still, the bats finally looked to have awoken after hammering out 30 runs throughout the four game set with Baltimore. Manager Terry Francona also has to be pleased with the fact that his club surrendered a total of just two runs the last two games of the series after surrendering 12 combined in the first two. We’ll see if the increased hitting/pitching production was for real against Minnesota and New York this week.
3) Toronto Blue Jays (10-4) (4-1 SU L/5 +$302): The team that boasts the best record in the American League comes in as the third best baseball bet for sports bettors at BetOnline Sportsbook after it cashed tickets in four of its last five outings. This club has already shown it can outslug you, but even more impressive has been their ability to win the 1-0 type game which they did against Oakland their last time out to win their fourth consecutive series of the season. The BJ’s boast the 4th ranked team in the “Bigs” scoring an average of 6.21 runs per game, and the pitching staff currently ranks eighth overall with a 3.75 team ERA. The bullpen’s already blown a pair of save opportunities, but opponents are only batting .200 overall and it’s only surrendered 33 overall hits. Look for some major runs to be scored with them set to go against the Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox this week.
And the rest….
4) Florida Marlins (11-2) (4-1 SU L/5 +$287)
5) San Diego Padres (9-4) (3-2 SU L/5 +$243)
