MLB Betting Predictions – Padres To Secure NL West Lead By Mauling Brewers

May 1, 2010

The San Diego Padres are taking an auspicious lead in the NL West, and that will most certainly get padded when they host the Milwaukee Brewers for the second game of a four game series. After blasting the Brewers 9-0 in the first game, you can almost rest assured that Clayton Richard will get another win for the club. Standing in his way will be Dave Bush who isn’t getting any run support.

Of course it doesn’t help Bush at the stripe when he’s pitching games like his last one. Bush was decimated by the Cubs on Sunday, allowing 10 hits and nine runs in just 3 2/3 innings. With a 1-1 SU record and a 4.84 ERA, the numbers are misleading on Bush. His stuff can get wildly out of control, and the Brewers don’t have the punching power to fight back from early deficits.

San Diego has played marvelously over the past two weeks, with an 11-2 SU record to brag about. They’re also 5-0 SU when playing at home and 6-2 SU in their past 8 games against the Brewers. That’s why an attractive moneyline here is posting a great value for baseball betting enthusiasts.

O 7.5 -110

Clayton Richard – L

U 7.5 -110

Clayton Richard may still be searching for his first win. An inability to keep tight control has led to 27 hits in just 24.0 innings pitched, and ten earned runs have resulted from his errors. That’s probably why San Diego is loving that they have Richard on the cheap for $423,700 in his second-year. The young gun still has plenty to prove and is a much more reliable slinger than Bush has been this year. Still, his erratic ways have led to this moneyline which is far too low considering the bats of the Padres.

Where To Watch: FSWI, CH4

At this point in baseball betting, going against the grain when San Diego is playing at PETCO is simply bad for your health. The Brewers aren’t exactly the team you should be reaching for in the sportsbook to begin with, and when they’re on the road you go against them for as much as you can afford.
