MLB Betting Picks – White Sox Visit Royals To Catch Up In AL Central

The Chicago White Sox suffered their first loss in 12 games (11-1 SU) against the rival Cubs and now lace up the cleats against the Kansas City Royals to return to their winning ways. With a 1.5 game gap to make up in the American League central division, the Sox will be playing catch up to the division leading Minnesota Twins and aren’t taking any chances on the MLB betting lines.

Mark Buehrle will get the start on Monday night. In 15 starts, Buehrle is 6-6 SU with a 4.60 ERA but is also coming off a three game winning streak. The White Sox have gone 4-1 SU with him at the mound in June thus far, losing to Texas on the first of the month. Buehrle has seemingly found the stuff that has made him a very strong pitcher in recent seasons, and strong defense has helped him allow just 16 hits off of 43 hits during 28.1 innings in June.

Lerew will counter for the Royals in his third start since being called up from the minors. The left handed pitcher is just 0-1 with an ERA of 4.76 over 2 starts giving up 13 hits and 6 runs on 11.1 innings pitched. Unlike his counterpart on the dirt hill tonight, Anthony Lerew doesn’t exactly get the defensive backing of his team. No pitcher for the Royals does.

Making matters much worse for Kansas City is that they have the 12th worst run defense at home, allowing 4.8 runs per game. They’re home ERA is just as bad, giving up 4.4 earned runs on average, ranking them 12th in that stat category as well.

Even in baseball, defense wins championships. Buehrle allows a lot of chip shots and infield hits when he’s at the stripe, but the White Sox have the third best road defense (4.3 runs allowed, 3rd) and a much stiffer batting order. A veteran like Buehrle will make short work of Kansas, while the White Sox will make Lerew second guess his career choice.
