MLB Betting Picks – Detroit Hosts Cleveland In Wake of Dontrelle Willis Trade

The Detroit Tigers had high hopes when this season started, and they definitely had much grander expectations of Dontrelle Willis when they signed him a couple MLB betting seasons back. In the wake of a brutal 1-6 SU streak over their past seven games, the Tigers have sent Willis to Arizona to shake up their rotation and hope it kick starts their roster as they enter their second game against Cleveland in a series they’re already losing.

Willis’s departure became a viable option when Armando Galarraga, tonight’s starting pitcher for the Tigers, began to show glimpses of promise. In three games, he’s pitched 12.0 innings, allowing 12 hits and 6 earned runs. He’s 1-1 SU as a starter while the Tigers are 1-2 SU when he leads off at the stripe.

Yet pitching is, as always, only half the story in Detroit. Their batting order is ranked just 7th in the American League when playing at home, notching 4.4 runs per game. Considering that it boasts names like Damon, Cabrera and Ordonez the Tigers need to do a better job of backing up their pitchers at the plate.
