MLB Betting Picks – 2nd Game Of Mets-Dodgers Double Header
April 27, 2010
With the first game underway, it looks like Mother Nature is going to cooperate with us and give us a great double header matchup featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers and the hot New York Mets.
After a torrential storm rained down on Cit Field on Monday, a front which has now moved north east, the Mets will hand the ball to Oliver Perez in hopes of maintaining a hopeful win streak that is sitting at four-games heading in to the two games today.
Haeger is unfortunately 0-2 SU in his two starts at the mound, averaging a 3.71 ERA this season. You can hardly blame Perez. The Mets have struggled at the plate recently, and are averaging a brutal 4.2 runs when playing at home. That makes them the 13th best offense. Ouch.
Tuesday, April 27th — Mets Stadium — 7:10pm EST
MLB Betting Lines:
Charlie Haeger – R +1.5 -210 -105 O 9.0 -110
Oliver Perez – L -1.5 +175 -115 U 9.0 -110
Countering for the Dodgers hits the stripe as a right handed knuckleballer who has never faced the New York Mets. Honestly, the type of trickery that Haeger is capable of may be able to thwart the Mets’ insufferable hitting efforts.
However, Haeger is still trying to find his stride this season. He’s been blown up for 12 hits and 11 runs in just 8.5 innings in two starting efforts. Both of those were losses, not surprisingly.
Where To Watch: KCAL, SNY
What might cripple the Mets’ chances of taking the second game is that the Dodgers will simply try to wait out Perez and hope that he doesn’t last past the fifth or sixth innings. The bullpen is hardly scary, especially with Johan Santana taken out of any possible role in this game due to his presence in the first game.
Without a reliable closer to clean up for Perez, the Dodgers have an opening late in the game to break this one wide open.
That’s why the oddsmakers are giving the Dodgers the tip of the ol’ cap in this MLB betting double header. Whenever you have an offense that isn’t performing as well as it should, and they’re stacking up against one of the better offenses in the National League, it’s usually a wash. Anything can happen in a double header, but I like the way the Dodgers are playing on the road in general. I don’t see the Mets being able to capitalize on a fine start by Perez.
