The Rangers are underdogs tonight but they have been the underdogs in the first two games of the series and have overcome the odds. First, they beat one of the National League’s hottest pitchers in Josh Johnson after the Marlins bullpen gave up the win and last night the Rangers batters scored early and late for a 6-3 win.

Tonight the Rangers will be relying on their batters once again. Michael Young became the Rangers all-leader last night with an eighth inning single, the hit broke Ivan Rodriguez’s club record. Young set the record of 1,748 hits, needing 91 fewer games than Rodriguez did.

Joining Young’s hit parade lately has been Josh Hamilton; Hamilton had four hits last night, including his 16 homerun of the season. The hits are a welcome site for Hamilton who had a relapse season last year after exploding on the scene in 2008 after years of drug abuse.

Pitching for the Rangers will be Dustin Nippert (2-3, 4.60 ERA) who is making his first start of the season after making 22 appearances out of the bullpen.

The Marlins already sent their best to the mound in Josh Johnson and that was easily their best chance at taking a game in this series. Ricky Nolasco is a very capable pitcher but lately he’s being lit up every time he steps on the mound. Nolasco is 1-3 with an 8.25 ERA is his last five starts and 2-3 with a 7.81 ERA in his last six interleague starts.

The Texas Rangers have been seeing the ball really well lately and they aren’t the type of team that Nolasco can use to get back on track. This series should end in a sweep, and with the Rangers +130 on the moneyline, it will be a nice win for MLB bettors.
