Detroit (20-15 SU, 17-17-1 O/U, 21-14 RL)

Here is a look at tonight’s key head-to-head trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and expert MLB Free Picks.

Red Sox are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Detroit.
Red Sox are 38-16 in the last 54 meetings.

Boston 411
Red Sox are 7-1 in their last 8 games as a favorite.
Red Sox are 7-3 in their last 10 overall.
Red Sox are 6-0 in Buchholz’s last 6 road starts.
Red Sox are 4-0 in Buchholz’s last 4 starts vs. American League Central.

Heading into Friday night, Boston had won three of its last four games and seven of its last 10 games overall while the Tigers had won three of four against the New York Yankees.

Detroit 411
Tigers are 6-1 in their last 7 home games vs. a right-handed starter.
Tigers are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. American League East.
Tigers are 2-5 in Scherzer’s last 7 starts.

Analysis: While the Detroit Tigers have not announced their starting pitcher for this contest ant the time of this writing, the Boston Red Sox will hand the ball to gifted right-hander John Lackey and that should be good enough for the BoSox to walk away with a win in this matchup.

Lackey was smacked around pretty good in his last start, allowing six runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings, but still managed to get the win in a 7-6 victory over the Blue Jays on Monday.

Despite his poor performance the last time out, MLB gamblers should know that Lackey has allowed three runs or fewer in five of his first seven starts for the Red Sox while compiling a fine 1-0 record with a 2.63 ERA in two road starts.

Lackey has also gone an encouraging 4-0 with a 3.46 ERA in four starts against the Tigers at Comerica Park and 6-1 with a 3.73 ERA in nine career starts against the Tigers overall.

Cementing this pick of an emphatic Red Sox Run Line victory is the fact that Boston has gone a perfect 4-0 in the last four meetings against the Tigers when they meet in Detroit.

Play the Boston Red Sox to cover the MLB Run Line with the emphatic road win.
