MLB Betting List – Best Arms in the Bigs

September 24, 2010

Trying to find the best pitchers in baseball to bet on isn’t as simple as looking at ERA, wins, losses, and WHIP all the time. Check out who tops out this MLB betting list of the best arms in the bigs.

CJ Wilson, Texas Rangers (23-8, +$1,346) – Wilson might be a rock solid 2-1 in his L/3 starts for the Rangers, but between the fact that Texas has really run away with the AL West and the fact that many are starting to catch on to just how good he is, the MLB sports betting dollars and cents aren’t adding up properly to bet on him. He has lost MLB bettors money over those L/3 starts.

Trevor Cahill, Oakland Athletics (20-8, +$1,328) – Cahill seems to be really, really good or really, really bad. He has allowed either three runs or less or six runs or more in all of his L/10 starts with no real middle ground. However, for the year, on any other team, Cahill’s numbers would stack him up as a Cy Young contender. There’s no shame in going 17-7 with a 2.81 ERA in just 28 starts. He won’t reach 20, but 19 wins is still a possibility.

Brett Myers, Houston Astros (19-12, +$1,134) – Little did Houston’s MLB betting fans know in July that Myers was going to become one of the best money pitchers in the bigs. Since the Fourth of July, Myers has led the ‘Stros to an 11-3 record and has cashed in to the tune of nearly 11 units worth of profits. On a team that was horrible for the first half of the year, a 13-7 record and a sub-3.00 ERA makes Myers one of the best pitchers in the game, and no one should ever question that. Fortunately, the oddsmakers are still giving him a break, so this is a man you might want to consider in his final two starts of the year.

Bud Norris, Houston Astros (14-11, +$1,044) – It’s amazing to think that the Astros have two pitchers on their team with at least ten units of profit this year when the rest of baseball only has three (Kris Medlen of the Atlanta Braves, who was shut down for the season being the other man not listed). Morris has hit the money in four straight and ten out of 11 since July 23rd, and just like his partner in crime, he is a man that you don’t want to mess with.

David Price, Tampa Bay Rays (22-8, +$983) – If the AL Cy Young Award was given out to the better of the two money pitchers, Price would obliterate CC Sabathia. He beat one of the other top southpaws in the game on Thursday night and dueled eight scoreless innings with him two weeks ago as well. If Joe Maddon elects to let him start twice more, don’t discount the possibility of this MLB betting stud to win 20 games and steal the Cy Young.
