MLB Betting Lines – Three Home Heroes for Friday Night
May 7, 2011
We cashed three of our four MLB betting positions last night as the Philadelphia Phillies and Roy Halladay had no problems with the Nationals on the moneyline and run-line, and the D’Backs took the series finale with the Rockies. The lone loss was the Brew Crew who just simply can’t come up with the big hit to save their lives right now. I’ve got three investments on home teams going tonight!
Atlanta Braves @ Philadelphia Phillies
Game Date/Time: Friday, May 6, 7:05 ET
Game Location: Citizens Bank Ballpark, Philadelphia, PA
TV/Radio Broadcast: Sports South, TCN, Sirius
MLB Odds
Atlanta Braves (Derek Lowe – R) +125
Philadelphia Phillies (Cliff Lee – L) -145
Over/Under 7.5 (Over +110)
The Braves are playing great baseball right now, having beaten the MLB betting lines in five straight games (+$500), all of which have come as favorites. Still, they’re historically a mediocre road team at best, and they are going up against one of the best pitchers in the bigs in Cliff Lee. Atlanta is just 2-7 in its last nine against the Phils, and it has already lost two out of three this year against them. Sure, Lee was the losing pitcher when these teams met in April, but the script will flip on Friday.
SLAM THE PHILLIES!
Detroit Tigers @ Toronto Blue Jays
Game Date/Time: Friday, May 6, 7:05 ET
Game Location: Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
TV/Radio Broadcast: Fox Sports Detroit, RSN, Sirius
MLB Odds
Detroit Tigers (Phil Coke – L) -105
Toronto Blue Jays (Jesse Litsch – R) -115
Over/Under 9 (Over +105)
Both of these teams have comparable records right now, but we have to dig a little bit deeper to find out what’s going on. It seems that two comparable pitchers in Coke and Litsch should give a slight edge with home field advantage to the Jays on the MLB betting lies. Coke is just 1-4 with a 4.50 ERA this year, and he is playing on a team that is just 6-10 on the road on the campaign (-$321). Toronto has actually only played 11 home games on the year and is 6-5 (+$39). Don’t be shocked if the Jays find a way to pull this one off in front of the hometown crowd, which hasn’t seen a whole heck of a lot of their team this year.
SLAM THE BLUE JAYS!
Colorado Rockies @ San Francisco Giants
Game Date/Time: Friday, May 6, 10:15 ET
Game Location: AT&T Park, San Francisco, CA
TV/Radio Broadcast: Root TV, Cox Sports Bay Area, Sirius
MLB Odds
Colorado Rockies (Ubaldo Jimenez – R) -105
San Francisco Giants (Matt Cain – R) -115
Over/Under 6.5 (Over -115)
There is something wrong with Ubaldo Jimenez right now, and we really don’t think we want anything to do with him and his 7.20 ERA. The Rockies are actually just 1-8 in his last nine road starts, which seems weird for a team that is 11-5 this year on the road. The Giants are below .500 and actually are -$277 in the gutter on the MLB betting lines, but Cain has been the team’s most consistent pitcher through the years. He was rocked by the Rockies in April, but he’ll make amends on Friday night.
SLAM THE GIANTS!
