MLB Betting Insider – Bank on Baseball’s Best Money Hurlers To Increase Seasonal Bankroll
May 28, 2010
Looking to break the bank with some nearly sure-fire MLB wagers?
Then simply, take a gander at baseball’s best money pitchers – and make your wager whenever one of these hurlers takes the mound because it will likely lead to a solid payday.
These five starting pitchers have been the cream of the crop when it comes to leading their respective ballclubs to winning, bankroll-boosting bets – and as MLB gamblers everywhere already know – the age-old maxim that good pitching beats good hitting still exists to this very day.
With that said and a full slate of MLB action taking place throughout the Memorial Day weekend, let me get started.
Baseball’s Best Money Starter
Carlos Silva – Chicago Cubs (8-1) +795
Silva has compiled a perfect 6-0 mark with a respectable 3.52 ERA for the mediocre Cubs this season in nine starts, winning four straight starts heading into Friday night. Silva has allowed three earned runs or less in seven of his nine starts this season.
Ubaldo Jimenez – Colorado Rockies (9-1) +772
Jimenez (9-1 0.88 ERA) has been the best pitcher in all of baseball this season and shows no signs of slowing down whatsoever while becoming just the third pitcher in the expansion era to begin a year winning eight of their first nine starts while recording a sub 1.00 ERA, joining legends, Juan Marachal with the Giants in 1966 (8-0, 0.69) and Fernando Valenzuela with the Dodgers in 1981 (8-1, 0.91). Jimenez has won three straight starts and has not allowed a single earned run over his last two starts spanning 15.0 innings.
Nick Blackburn – Minnesota Twins (8-1) +760
Blackburn (6-1, 4.28 ERA) may have an ERA that sits well above 4.00 but the way he’s been throwing the ball you’d never know it, (which is why I picked him to beat the Yankees on Thursday night). The Twins’ staff ace, Blackburn has not allowed more than three earned runs in five straight starts – all wins for the steamrolling right-hander.
Michael Pelfrey – New York Mets (8-2) +731
Pelfrey (7-1, 2.54 ERA) is pitching solidly for the Mets this season and has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his last three starts and tossed seven shutout innings against Philadelphia on Thursday. Incredibly, it’s Pelfrey and not Johan Santana who’s been the Mets’ best hurler this season.
Andy Pettitte –New York Yankees (8-1) +719
Take a back seat CC Sabathia. You too AJ Burnett … it’s the ageless Andy Pettitte (6-1, 2.62 ERA) that has been the Yankees best pitcher this season. Sure Pettitte was rocked by the Tampa Bay Rays on May 20, but outside of that performance, he has allowed two runs or less in winning three of his last four starts.
