MLB Betting Free Picks – Twins Looking To Avenge Loss To Lowly Orioles

May 7, 2010

This hasn’t been the best of seasons for the Baltimore Orioles, but it’s not like anyone was expecting them to be an upstart underdog in MLB betting. The Twins, on the other hand, were having the kind of success that many were expecting them to. That is, however, until they played the Orioles last night.

Without Joe Mauer in the lineup, the Orioles were able to steal a game in Minnesota and inched that much closer to double-digit victories. As it stands, they are the only team in the major leagues that is still searching for 10-wins this season.

The Twins suffered their second shutout of the season, and it’s easy for the Twins to point to Mauer’s bruised heel as the problem. He’s their star slugger, but Minnesota should be ashamed only because they have better bats than that. A lack of run support tonight might not be a problem for Francisco Liriano.

Baltimore Orioles (8-21) vs. Minnesota Twins (19-10)
Friday, May 7th — Target Field — 8:10pm EST
MLB Betting Lines:

Kevin Millwood – R +1.5 -105 +200 O 7.5 -115
Francisco Liriano – L -1.5 -115 -240 U 7.5 -105

The left-handed ace is having one of the better seasons this year of any hurler in the American League. The Twins have won every game he has starred in and Liriano has earned four victories in those starts. Three of those wins have been shut-outs, which has led to a dazzling 1.50 ERA this season. At home, Liriano is 2-0 SU with zero runs allowed.

Where To Watch: MASN2, FSNO

Countering for Baltimore will be Kevin Millwood, who hasn’t managed to win a game in five starts despite superb pitching. Sure, he’s allowed to be flustered by a lack of run support, but should he be that surprised? The Orioles are 13th in the AL with 3.4 runs earned per game and they give up 4.5 when playing on the road. Despite Millwood rocking off to a good start, allowing just 39-hits in 40.0 innings, Baltimore simply doesn’t have the mustard to keep up with the Twins.

Adjusting to the absence of Mauer, the Twins won’t have to do much offensively to get the win on both of the MLB betting lines tonight. Liriano will keep the O’s in check. In his last start against Baltimore, the Twins won 4-0 last June and Liriano allowed just one-hit and zero runs in 7 innings. Sounds like a good bet to me, even if it’s not a great value.

Furious MLB Betting Pick – Minnesota RL and ML (UNDER)
