MLB Betting – Can Struggling Dodgers Top Milwaukee at Home?

May 6, 2010

The LA Dodgers were expected to be one of the MLB betting stars of the 2010 season, but they haven’t lived up to expectations just yet.

The Dodgers are in last place and now are finding themselves as baseball betting underdogs quite often. Tonight, at home, however, the Dodgers are the MLB betting favorite according to the baseball betting odds against NL Central squad Milwaukee despite their last-place standing.

The Dodgers have flaws but they also have a talented young squad capable of beating just about anyone in the National League on any given night.

Will tonight be the night the Dodgers make a push back toward the top of the NL West standings after dropping the first two games of the series to the Brewers?

Milwaukee Brewers (Dave Bush, R) at LA Dodgers (John Ely, R)

10:10 pm, Dodger Stadium

MLB betting line: LA Dodgers favored at -1 ½

The Dodgers have given up 11 runs in back-to-back games against the Brewers at home, a disastrous sign for anyone betting on LA in tonight’s game.

For anyone betting on the Dodgers, the hope has to be that they are so embarrassed by the two previous efforts that they will bounce back with a win.

But with Ely on the mound, a 7.50 ERA pitcher who gave up 5 ER in his last start in just 6 IP, the Dodgers fans don’t have a lot of hope for a win.

The Brewers will throw Dave Bush out onto the mound tonight, and he has at least been much better than Ely on the season, although that isn’t saying a whole lot.

The Dodgers have a lot of offensive talent and are first in the NL in batting average but the Brewers have a tendency to hammer bad pitching with home runs and extra base hits.

That should be the case again tonight despite the Dodgers’ likelihood of coming out fired up dying for a win aftr being embarrassed in the first two games.

With the baseball betting odds set at -1 ½ and a Brewers win as the MLB betting favorite quite possible, there’s no reason to bet on the Dodgers.

The baseball betting odds are almost never in favor of a team that gives up 22 runs in two games at home leading up to the series finale, and for good reason.

MLB betting pick: Milwaukee Brewers (+1 ½)
