MLB Betting – Can Indians Get Revenge on Blue Jays at Home After Near-Perfect Game?
May 4, 2010
The Cleveland Indians are a bit behind the eight-ball in the AL Central division, but if the young Tribe has any hopes of contending, they’ll need to pick it up soon.
Tonight, they’ll go up against the Toronto Blue Jays in game two of their May series as the MLB betting underdog, with the baseball odds favoring the Blue Jays after a masterful performance on Monday night.
Brett Cecil had a perfect game heading into the 7th inning for Toronto in that game, and the Blue Jays will look for another great pitching performance in order to beat the MLB betting odds.
The baseball odds for the game have Toronto as a -1 ½ favorite, and the Jays have won by two or more runs in their last four wins.
Toronto Blue Jays (Ricky Romero, L) at Cleveland Indians (Jake Westbrook, R)
7:05 ET, Progressive Field
MLB betting line: Blue Jays favored at -1 ½
The Blue Jays will throw Romero, who is a lefty with good stuff who has been very successful so far on the year with an ERA just over 2.
He is one of those pleasant surprises at P who has kept the Blue Jays at least within striking distance of the powers of the AL East.
It is the toughest division in baseball year in and year out thanks to the emergence of the Rays and the continued big spending of the Red Sox and Yankees each year.
The Jays are a game over .500 but they have learned over the past five years or so that every game matters in the AL East and that’s why they play hard game in and game out.
Effort has been more of a problem for the Indians, but Cleveland still has a shot in the not-quite-as-strong Central, although the Detroit Tigers and especially Minnesota Twins have been playing well lately.
The Indians’ hitting has been okay according to the stats but the hitting has been awful. Toronto’s hitting hasn’t been much better but their secondary pitching stats are sparkling.
That will be Toronto’s edge today and that’s why the MLB betting favorite according to the baseball betting odds will end up taking home the win.
The baseball betting odds of -1 ½ will end up being covered as Romero pitches a gem against a weak Cleveland lineup.
MLB betting pick: Toronto Blue Jays (- 1 ½)
