MLB Betting – Baseball’s Top Road Warriors

May 10, 2010

BetOnline Sportsbook always has its watchful eye over the top MLB betting teams in baseball, and today, we’re taking a look at the hottest teams that have been spoiling the party as unwanted guests in opposing homes.

Season Standings

1: Toronto Blue Jays (12-4, +$1,193) – Doesn’t it feel like the Blue Jays start off hot every single year only to fall flat by season’s end? It won’t be an easy decline for them on the road this year, that’s for sure. At 12-4, Toronto has the second best road record in baseball. Just one small problem though – there have yet to be any trips to Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium.

2: Tampa Bay Rays (13-3, +$1,050) – The Rays may have been the subject of perfection once again on Mother’s Day, but it’s hard to argue that this isn’t the best MLB betting team all season long in the bigs. Tampa Bay still finished up the first two legs of its West Coast trip at 4-2, and will look to finish above .500 on the trip by taking at least one game in Anaheim this week.

3: Washington Nationals (6-6, +$507) – The oddsmakers just haven’t figured out that the Nationals might be good enough to stick around all season long. Not only are they the top money team in baseball, but they’re also one of the best teams both at home and on the road. Closer Matt Capps is a big reason for this as well, as he is a perfect 13/13 in save chances, and he’s on pace to shatter the MLB saves record of 62 set by RHP Francisco Rodriguez.

Who’s Hot?

1: Toronto Blue Jays (4-1, +$394) – Before we get too overly excited for Toronto again, let’s remember that these five road games were all played at US Cellular Field and Progressive Field. These aren’t exactly little houses of horror that we’re talking about. Talk to us if the Jays can win their series in Boston this week.

2: Milwaukee Brewers (4-1, +$385) – The beginning of this ten game West Coast swing was just awful for the Brew Crew, as they lost three of their four games to San Diego. However, since that point, they’ve won five out of six and cashed in as +130 dogs or better three times in the process. Thank the offense, which has scored a comical 51 runs since May 4th. Milwaukee has a significantly better road record (11-8) than home record (4-8) so far in 2010.

3: Washington Nationals (3-2, +$333) – The Nats have been lined at +130 or higher in their L/10 road games, so it should come as no surprise that they could post a winning money mark without having a superior SU record. In six road appearances this year, RHP Tyler Clippard is 1-0 with a 1.04 ERA. He has struck out 12 batters in 8.2 innings and has four holds to boot. No wonder why the Nats are winning games left and right!
