MLB Betting – Visitors with Road Rage

May 10, 2010

For every home team that is red hot, there has to be a visiting team that just can’t figure out how to put it together quite yet. BetOnline Sportsbook takes a look at the squads that have been the most woeful road teams in MLB betting action so far in 2010.

Season Standings

1: Atlanta Braves (5-14, -$995) – At just 5-14 away from Turner Field, the Braves are in a boat load of trouble this year. If they can’t figure out how to win road games, they’re going to most likely finish in the gutter of a very tough division. The offense has sputtered in a huge way of late on the road, scoring just 11 runs over its L/4 games in Philly and Washington DC. We’ll see how a three game set goes at Miller Park against a red hot Milwaukee club this week.

2: Los Angeles Dodgers (4-11, -$919) – It’s never a good sign when you’re averaging losing $61.27 for your MLB betting fans every single time that you take to the field away from your home turf. The Dodgers have only hit the road twice this year, but in those two road trips, they went just 2-4 and 2-7 respectively. Another long trip away from Chavez Ravine starts this week, so look for LA to continue sliding backwards in the NL West race.

3: Chicago Cubs (7-12, -$664) – Though the Cubs can thank a recent swoon for the reason that they are on this list, one must remember that they weren’t exactly a stellar road club to start off with. Chicago has allowed at least 11 runs three times on the road this year and has only scored more than three runs in seven of its 19 tries.

Who’s Not?

1: Kansas City Royals (0-5, -$500) – The Royals are such a tough team to handicap that it isn’t even funny. The team is averaging hitting .273 this year, which is one of the top batting averages in the bigs. However, thanks to a bullpen that resembles a sieve, the team just can’t put it together. There are going to be plenty of five game losing streaks like this one this year for the men of royalty, but keep in mind that going 2-3 away from Kauffman Stadium will net them positive money in most instances.

2: Chicago Cubs (1-4, -$440) – As previously mentioned, this Chicago team has really struggled on the road as of late. Not only did the team allow 7.33 runs per game in its L/6 in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, but it also only scored more than three runs once. That 14 run outburst certainly didn’t make up for an entire week of woe though, and the Cubbies went just 1-5 to fall into fifth place in the NL Central.

3: Florida Marlins (1-4, -$380) – The Fish just dropped two out of three at Nationals Park over the weekend to start a six game roadie that will wrap up in Chicago this week. The offense has only produced 15 runs on the road in its L/5 tries and hasn’t topped five runs in an away game but twice all season long.
