MLB Betting – Top Money Pitchers in Baseball

May 6, 2010

BetOnline Sportsbook is back with MLB betting information for all of you baseball nuts out there! Today, we present a list of the top five money making pitchers that you should be keeping an eye on the next time you go to place a MLB bet!

Andy Pettitte, New York Yankees (6-0, +$630) – The always reliable Pettitte has gotten off to a great start once again in 2010. He left his most recent start on Wednesday with an inflamed elbow, so he may be held back a few days or given a brief stint on the DL, but no one in pinstripes is overly worried. In Pettitte’s L/9 starts, he is 7-0 and hasn’t allowed more than four earned runs in any start. Yankees bettors are a perfect 9-0 and up a sizeable $930 during that stretch.

Kyle Davies, Kansas City Royals (4-1, +$623) - Is this the year that the 26 year old Davies finally breaks out into the big time in the majors? C Jason Kendall has done a lot of work with Davies, and it is showing so far this year. His numbers are starting to resemble that of a solid starter in this league, as a 3.52 ERA and 23 Ks over 30.2 IPs is excellent, and it’s showing for KC bettors. The Royals have already cashed four times in Davies’ first five starts, all of which have come with him as an underdog.

Ubaldo Jimenez, Colorado Rockies (6-0, +$600) – Unfortunately for MLB betting gurus, the value on Jimenez may already be gone. Ever since he pitched that no-hitter against the Braves, the oddsmakers have been brutal to Colorado’s righty, as he has had to lay -172 chalk on the road and -200 chalk at home. However, he has only allowed one earned run in his L/4 starts and has yet to be beaten this year. There’s no doubt that this is one of the most consistent pitchers in the game right now, as Jimenez is 6-0 with an ERA of a svelte 0.87, but the books will punish you in a big way if he loses.

Livan Hernandez, Washington Nationals (4-1, +$533) - The Nats are playing great ball at the outset of the season, and a lot of that is thanks to Hernandez. The righty has apparently totally reinvented himself, and he hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in a start all season long. His only defeat came as a tough luck loser in a 2-0 defeat against aforementioned Jimenez and the Rockies.

Francisco Liriano, Minnesota Twins (5-0, +$503) – Remember when Liriano was tabbed to be the next Johan Santana in Minnesota? Two years later, those visions may be coming true. The southpaw hadn’t allowed an earned run from his start on April 15th against Boston until his most recent outing against the Tribe on Sunday. Liriano is striking out batters left and right once again, K’ing 36 in as many innings of work, and his 1.50 ERA has him thinking about being a Cy Young contender by season’s end.
