Series Odds:
Chicago Cubs +135
Chicago White Sox -165
Friday, 3:05 PM ET – Carlos Zambrano (3-5) vs Jake Peavy (6-5)
Zambrano is ready to face the White Sox.
He threw seven innings while only allowing one run with seven strike-outs last week against the Angels, which was by far his best outing of the season.
Carlos Zambrano looks primed and ready to face the cross-town nemesis, White Sox.
Peavy, the 2007 NL Cy Young Award winner, pitched a shutout in his last outing against the Nationals.
However, he has had problems with his right shoulder as of late, which made his performance last week so surprising. Peavy had success against the Cubs earlier this season, allowing just two runs over seven innings.
This pitching duel seems evenly matched, as both pitchers have struggled this season with ERAs in the 5s and 5 losses a piece.
Zambrano however, seems to getting back his groove and there are still question marks surrounding Peavy and his shoulder. Take the Cubs!
Pick: Cubs
Saturday, 6:10 PM ET – Carlos Silva (8-2) vs Freddy Garcia (8-3)
Coming off his second straight loss, Silva is eager to take the mound on Saturday, especially after he was pulled from starting last week due to a hamstring problem.
Silva seems to be a man of streaks this season, remember that Silva won his first eight straight starts of the season, so don’t count him out!
Garcia is 4-0 lifetime against the Cubs, with an outstanding ERA of 1.25. In his last start against the Nationals, he allowed three runs in seven innings.
Despite his season ERA of 4.85, expect Garcia to pitch the Cubs hard as he usual does.
This game offers a strong pitching matchup for both teams. Both starters are strong and capable pitchers, so when there is a toss-up in starting pitching take the team that has been the better team over the season.
Take the White Sox!
Pick: White Sox
Sunday, 1:05 PM ET – TBA (-) vs John Danks (7-5)
Danks grabbed his third consecutive win last week against the Braves.
He has pitched quite well lately, and in his last start Danks had a stretch where he sat down ten consecutive batters Braves hitters. This strong play should continue against the Cubs.
Danks is 2-0 in three career starts and an ERA of 0.90 in just over 20 innings of play against the Cubs.
Danks will likely be the hotter, stronger pitcher on Sunday, compared to any starter that the Cubs could send to the mound.
If you are a baseball betting fan following the pitching and expect the White Sox to walk away with a win on Sunday and take the series.
Pick: White Sox
