Texas Rangers (6-0) at Baltimore Orioles (5-1)
Friday, April 8 at 7:05 PM ET
Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland
TV: KXTA, MASN2
MLB Best Bets Odds: Texas -1.5 Baltimore +1.5, Game Total: 8.5 runs
The Rangers already look hungry for another World Series as the only remaining undefeated team in baseball and we’re only into the first week of the 2011 season. With a combination of bats and solid pitching, Texas could tie the franchise record for best season start with seven wins with a victory tonight.
In their first six games, the Rangers have put together 42 runs without an outstanding performance by any one player but consistent contributions from many. But Nelson Cruz has led the way with four homers on the season already with six RBIs.
Tonight’s MLB Pitching Matchup:
Colby Lewis (1-0) ERA 4.50 vs. Zach Britton (1-0) ERA 1.50
Texas will start Colby Lewis tonight, who despite average success against the Orioles last season, went 5-0 to end the 2010 season, including postseason games.
The Orioles have relied on solid pitching to start the season, with an average team ERA of 2.33. Tonight Baltimore sends Zach Britton to the stripe, the young southpaw who gave up only one run on three hits in his Major League debut against the Tampa Bay Rays last week.
Tonight will be the Rangers first road game of the season, and may present a test against the arm of Britton. Keep an eye on Vladimir Guerrero, who went to Baltimore from Texas during the offseason. Off to a slow start, Guerrero has a fierce swing and can make game-changing plays.
MLB Best Bet – Keep betting on the Texas Rangers until they show us otherwise! Rangers -1.5!
