Michael Vick Signs with the Philadelphia Eagles
August 13, 2009
Michael Vick has apparently signed a one year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles with a second year option. The details of the contract are rumored to be $1.2 million for the first year with the option year being closer to the $5 million dollar range. So the troubled QB has found a home with the Eagles behind McNabb, and possibly Westbrook as they don’t have much of a running game after their all purpose back.
The pros of this deal are that Vick won’t cost a lot of money, thus he isn’t much of a risk from a financial standpoint. He should be on his best behavior and will be happy to just be back in the league. Vick obviously has the potential to be an impact player if used correctly and gives the Eagles, who needed something to get them into the upper echalon of the NFL, another offensive weapon that can be used a variety of ways.

The negatives of this signing are the obvious PR nightmares that come along with signing such a controversial figure. Also, he will not be available until after week 6 so don’t expect to see him any time soon.
A date you may want to circle on your BetOnline calender is December 6th as the Eagles travel down to Atlanta to play the Falcons, Vick’s home for his entire 6 year NFL career.
