NCAA Football Odds

Maryland Terps (+8) -110
Miami Hurricanes (-8) –110
Over/Under 46

Both these teams allow just 19 points per game and Maryland (6-2) figures to struggle offensively on the road as the Terrapins rank #11 in the ACC averaging just 322 yards per game. Miami (5-3) has the leagues #2 defense holding opponents to 310 yards per game and 4.7 yards per play. This game should present problems for both teams on offense setting up a college football picks lower scoring game.

Maryland does not run the ball well, and when forced to the air, the Terps will have little success as the Hurricanes feature the leagues top pass defense holding opponents to just 152 yards per game, 5.8 yards per pass attempt and a league-best 15 interceptions. Miami ranks #2 in the nation in pass efficiency defense and their defense should dominate the Terps.

Miami figures to take a conservative approach on offense in this game as starting quarterback Jacory Harris is out with a concussion, and the Hurricanes will actually start fourth-string quarterback Stephen Morries. The true freshman will make his first career start against Maryland in this college football picks ACC game. Also missing this contest for Miami is starting running back and leading rusher Damien Berry.

The Hurricanes come off an embarrassing effort at Virginia as lofty 14-point road favorites in their 23-19 loss last week. That college football picks play saw the Hurricanes held scoreless until the fourth quarter, so the Canes strong defense knows they will be counted on this week with a freshman quarterback making his first start along with their top runner also out of action.

Maryland has just five turnovers their last seven games and the Terps will need a clean game to knock off Miami. Little offensive production is expected from Maryland in this spot. The Terps generated just 222 yards offense at Boston College, 217 yards offense at West Virginia and 350 yards and 7 points at Clemson while holding the Tigers to 213 yards.

NCAA Insider Tip: The under is 19-7 in Maryland’s last 26 conference games including 8-2 their last ten November games. The under is 7-3 in Miami’s last ten games on grass.

Both defenses have played well holding opponents to just 15 and 18 first downs per game. Maryland’s inability to move the chains on third down (33%) will make it even more difficult in this college football picks contest. The only potential problem area in points being scored is penalties, as these two teams are the most penalized in the ACC. Still, conservative game plans with a dominating defense on the Miami side set this game up to be a lower scoring outcome.

My NCAA Football Predictions: Miami Hurricanes / Maryland Terps under (46) -110
