BSGU is still looking for their first mark in the win column but as far as sport bettors are concerned, the Falcons are a perfect 2-0. The Falcons were 14.5-point dogs against Troy and lost by three points and against Tulsa, the bookies gave BSGU 16.5 points and the Falcons lost by 13. It’s not good for the college rankings but for gamblers it’s a gold mine.
At quarterback, Matt Schilz has taken his lumps in the first two games, taking five sacks and tossing three interceptions while tossing only one touchdown pass.
BSGU lacks a consistent run game, that has allowed opponent to sit back in the secondary and force Schilz to beat them, and so far, he hasn’t done so.
The defense hasn’t been any better allowing 475 yards of offense against Troy; and against Tulsa, they gave up 190 yards on the ground.
Marshall has faced tougher opponents in their first two games, losing 45-7 to Ohio State but holding their own in a 24-21 loss to West Virginia. They managed to stay within the 12 point spread against the Mountaineers but 28 points wasn’t enough in the 45-7 loss to the Buckeyes.
In the Falcons and Thundering Herd’s 2009 meeting, Marshall won the 17-10 as three point underdogs. The game was under the total of 51.5 points.
The sports betting trends show that Marshall is 4-1 against the spread in their past five con-conference games but just 1-4-1 in their past six road games against teams losing records. The Falcons are 6-0 ATS in their past six games against teams with a losing record and 6-0-1 ATS overall.
In this game, I’m going to ride the BGSU’s trend of covering games and take the three points.
NCAAF Betting Pick: Bowling Green Falcon +3
