Make Your NFL Draft Prop Bets Prior to Thursday’s Action

July 9, 2011

With the big day now upon us, it’s time to get your last minute, NFL Draft Prop Bets in!

After previously looking at how the first three picks might shake out, let’s now look at the Bengals, Cardinals and Browns, who own picks 4-6.

Cincinnati Bengals First Pick In The Draft Will Be?

Offensive Player: -400

Defensive Player: +300

With so much offseason turmoil in Cincinnati, it’s hard to say exactly where they’ll lean with this pick. Simply put, they don’t know if quarterback Carson Palmer will be back after demanding a trade, and what the future of the receiving corps is, with Chad Ochocinco coming off one of his worst seasons a pro.

That’s why, for all intents and purposes, it does appear as though Cincinnati will take an offensive player. With a defense that ranked 15th in the NFL in total yardage allowed (332 per game), there are no pressing issues there, meaning that a player like Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green or Alabama’s Julio Jones is the pick to make.

There aren’t many locks in the NFL Draft Prop Bets this year, but this seems like one of them. Go with Cincinnati to take an offensive player.

Arizona Cardinals First Pick In The Draft Will Be?

Offensive Player: +100

Defensive Player: -140

It wouldn’t be the NFL Draft if the Arizona Cardinals weren’t making a top 10 pick, right? Well this year is no exception, as Arizona needs help all over the field.

Defensively, the line is where the most work is needed. This was a group that ranked No. 30 in the NFL in rushing yards allowed, giving up 145 yards per game. They also allowed 27.1 points per game, a bi-product of that weak defensive line, and the pass rush that came with it.

Still, there is just not a team in this draft that is in more desperate need of a quarterback Thursday night. Meaning that in our NFL Draft Prop Bets, we firmly believe they’ll take the best guy on board, likely Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert. This was an offense that ranked 31st in passing yardage in the NFL last year, and it’s hard to believe that after Derek Anderson, Max Hall and John Skelton all got a shot last year, that any are the answer.

Take the good odds, and take Arizona to go offense in your NFL Draft Prop Bets.

Cleveland Browns First Pick In The Draft Will Be?

Offensive Player: -200

Defensive Player: +150

Finally, let’s take a look at the Cleveland Browns. Because with Colt McCoy entrenched at quarterback, and 1,000 yard rusher Peyton Hillis at running back, it seems like they’re set on the offensive side of the football, right?

Don’t be so sure, as the NFL Draft Prop Bets actually favor Cleveland to go offensive, and likely select a wide receiver, with Green or Jones being the likely target. If they did go defense, we’d expect them to shore up one of the NFL’s worst defensive lines, a group which allowed 129.4 yards per game on the ground last year. North Carolina’s Robert Quinn or Auburn’s Nick Fairley could be the pick here if available.

We’ll stick with offense though. The best security a young quarterback can have is a go-to receiver, and with one likely being on board, one will end up in Cleveland.

Take the Browns to grab an offensive player, as your final NFL Draft Prop Bets pick of the evening!
