Magic vs Celtics – Prop Betting and what you need to know
May 18, 2010
Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals is just hours away, but whether you know who you’ll be wagering on or not, there is still plenty to gamble on.
Let’s take a look at a few Game 2 NBA Prop Bets, which might make you the biggest winner of the night.
Player to Score First Basket of the Game- Dwight Howard (+350): After an abysmal Game 1 (3 of 10 shooting, 13 points), it’s important that the Magic establish superstar center Dwight Howard early and often. So why not on the first play of the game?
This NBA Playoff Betting on Propositions makes sense for a lot of reasons. First, it seems that there is a pretty reasonable chance that it will be Howard who wins the games opening tip, over the much shorter and less athletic Kendrick Perkins. And with Howard having been so disappointing in Game 1, it seems logical that Orlando will look to feed him the ball right from the very beginning. Finally, even though the Celtics are getting physical with Howard, they’ll be careful not to foul him on the first possession.
After winning the opening tip and getting the ball in the post, Howard is in line to score the first points of this game. Take him in your first NBA Playoffs Prop Bet of the evening.
Rajon Rondo- Over 24 Points + Assists (-125) or Under 24 Points + Assists (-105): Rondo has been the star of stars this playoffs, as it was he- and not LeBron James- who was the best player in the Celtics-Cavaliers second round series.
However in Game 1 there were some struggles, as Rondo finished with just eight points and eights assists. Good numbers for some, but not for the fourth year player out of Kentucky.
With Game 2 set to tip-off, look for Rondo to have a better game, making this NBA Playoff Prop Bet an OVER.
The truth is, that when looking at Rondo’s matchup with Jameer Nelson, it seems like the speedy Celtics guard should be able to get to the basket any time he wants, he’s simply too quick and athletic. With that in mind, expect Rondo to look for his offense more, and significantly improve on that eight points he scored in Game 1.
Whether the Celtics win or lose, Rondo will have a big game. Take him to go OVER this prop bet.
Rashard Lewis- Over 15 ½ Points (-120) or Under 15 ½ Points (-110): Few players were important to Orlando’s run to the NBA Finals last year as the hot-shooting Lewis. And so far in these playoffs, he has again played well, averaging 15 points a contest.
But Game 1 was a different story. In it, Lewis made just 2 of 10 shots from the field, to finish with a postseason worst six points. So what should we make of him as we head into Game 2?
Well with the physical and intelligent Paul Pierce guarding him, points aren’t coming easy for Lewis, even with a big height advantage. Because he plays on the perimeter, he relies on timing and rhythm, two things that Pierce won’t let him have.
Lewis should be better Tuesday night than he was in Game 1, but the play in this NBA Playoffs Prop Bet is still the UNDER.
