Madden NFL Super Bowl Simulation Pick – And the Winner is…
NFL Betting – XBOX 360 Super Bowl XLIV Simulation
New Orleans Saints vs. Indianapolis Colts
Sunday, February 7th – 6:25 PM ET
17 weeks of the NFL betting regular season as well as the playoffs are in the books, and all that’s left standing are the New Orleans Saints (15-3, 9-9 ATS) and Indianapolis Colts (16-2, 12-5-1 ATS). It’s only fitting the two best teams throughout the entirety of the season hook up for some Super Bowl XLIV betting, and that’s the exact scenario BetUS Sportsbook customers get to decipher heading into the big game.
For all you naysayers who think this XBOX simulation is just a gimmick, Madden NFL has predicted the Super Bowl winner five of the last six years. The only one that EA missed was the Giants massive upset over the Patriots, but who called that one. So, without further ado, here’s how the final XBOX game sim of the 2009-10 NFL betting season played out…
Weather: Clear with lows in the lower 50s.

Before we jump into the play-by-play, let’s get the most important bet of the game out of the way immediately. The coin toss came up tails and the Saints won it. Congrats to those that got their Super Bowl XLIV prop betting off on the right foot.
The opening offering from K Matt Stover was a line drive right at RB/KR Pierre Thomas. The Illinois product avoided the first wave of Colts special teamers, and then threw it into high gear and raced all the way to the end zone to give the Saints the quick 7-0 lead. Those that played Thomas to score the first TD of the game at +500 came away grinning from ear to ear.
QB Peyton Manning and his offense took the field down 7-0 in the Super Bowl exactly the way they did back in ’06 against the Bears. The Colts wasted little time going right down the field as Manning picked the Saints apart on each of his first five-passes. The drive ended with a TD strike from Manning to TE Dallas Clark from 4-yards out. If you pegged Clark as the first Colt to score a TD at +300, you got yourself a winnah winnah chicken dinnah!
The Saints answered right back on their initial offensive drive of the game when QB Drew Brees and WR Devery Henderson connected from 12-yards out to go up 14-7. Little to no pressure was put on the QB which had Colts backers very nervous at the onset of the game. RB Joseph Addai busted a huge 40-yard gain to get Indy into NO territory on their second drive of the game, and then Manning and WR Austin Collie hooked up for a 19-yard scoring strike to even the game up at 14 apiece heading into the 2nd quarter.
New Orleans set up shop on its own 27-yard line, but the Colts forced the first turnover of the game when they got pressure on Brees and he tried forcing one into double coverage. Indy took over, and went up by seven three plays later when RB Addai hit pay dirt from 7-yards out. The Colts defense set the tone of the 2nd quarter with the interception, and it didn’t allow the Saints potent attack to cross midfield the remainder of the quarter. Indy tacked on a 27-yarder from K Matt Stover, and hit the locker room at the break up 24-14. Congrats are in order for Colts and Over backers in the 1st half.
New Orleans’ defense got a stop to open up the 3rd quarter, and the offense managed to cut into the Colts lead when K Garrett Hartley’s 49-yarder split the uprights with room to spare. Neither team was able to put any points on the board throughout the next 9+ minutes of game action. The field had taken a beating, and the footing was absolutely terrible. the Colts did add one more nail to the Saints coffin right before the 3rd quarter expired when Manning and WR Reggie Wayne connected on a fabulous 29-yard pass and catch to take a two-score lead into the final 15 minutes of play.
Now firmly up against it, the Saints ditched the running game completely and bombarded the Colts defense through the air. The drive was picture-perfect up until it entered the Colts red zone. That’s where the Colts buckled down and forced the Saints to go for three. HC Sean Payton gambled by calling for the fake, but the Colts were ready for it, and stopped it rather easily to take over on downs. RB Donald Brown then saw tons of action as he tried to milk as much time off the clock as possible. He and Manning were masterful as they took 5+ minutes off the clock before the drive stalled at the Saints 38-yard line. HC Jim Caldwell elected to pin the Saints deep, and the move paid off when P Pat McAfee’s coffin corner attempt went out of bounds at NO’s 4-yard line.
RB Reggie Bush picked up a quick 15-yards on a dump-off, but before you knew it, the Saints were staring at a 4th and 5. Brees calmly slung one into TE Jeremy Shockey to move the chains. They then picked up a big gainer when WR Marques Colston took a WR screen 27-yards to get into Indy territory. The Saints do or die drive wrapped up with a 3-yard TD plunge from RB Thomas. The Saints lined up for the onside kick, and actually pulled it off much to the chagrin of Colts backers.
However, the Saints last ditch effort to piss those with Indy tickets in their hand came to a crashing halt when Brees’ first pass of the drive was deflected into the air and picked off by LB Gary Brackett. Manning took a couple knees, and the Colts went on to win the Lombardi Trophy for the second time in four years.
Super Bowl XLIV prop players that predicted Pierre Thomas would bookend TDs at the beginning and end of the game came away with an enormous pay day!!! Manning (310.5) and Brees (290.5) both went over their predicted total yardage outputs, but only Brees went over his predicted pass attempts (36.5) while Manning fell half an attempt short ultimately finishing with 37 (37.5). Those that laid the -180 for Brees to throw an interception were paid out, but those that faded Manning and laid the -140 came away empty handed.
EA Sports ran its own Madden Football Game Sim of Super Bowl XLIV. Their test run had the Saints picking up the franchise’s first ever SB victory with a 35-31 victory over the Colts. However, BetUS.com’s XBOX Game Sims have gone an impressive 14-6 ATS in the playoffs and correctly called the side and total winners in both the NFC & AFC Championship Games. Pick your poison…
