Louisville Looks For Upset Against Pittsburgh in Online Betting Picks
February 27, 2011
Before we get to the basketball online betting breakdown of this Big East showdown, can we talk about the name of Louisville’s home court for a second? The KFC Yum! Center? Are you joking? Was KFC Center not good enough? I can accept a dot-com here and there, but this is taking things too far. Punctuation has to go in these types of situations.
Ok, now that I have that off my chest, I can get to the game. The Pittsburgh Panthers, ranked fourth in the country, have been pretty strong in Big East play and boast a comfortable two-game lead over Notre Dame in the standings. Louisville, however, sits just three games back with just as many games left in the season. It’s going to be a photo finish and that makes this matchup even more daunting for both teams.

The Cardinals are no stranger to upsets this season and they’ve literally been playing lock down defense lately. They gave up just 58-points against UConn, while scoring 71 and held Rutgers to just 37-points a few days ago. Both of those games cleared the online betting spread, and Louisville is now 4-2 SU and a worrisome 3-3 ATS in their last 6 games. If defense wins championships, than the Cardinals can certainly boast an advantage in that online betting regard.
#4 Pittsburgh Panthers (25-3) vs. #16 Louisville Cardinals (21-7)

Online Betting Trends:
- Pittsburgh is 6-1 SU in last 7 games
- Pittsburgh is 4-2 ATS in last 6 road games
- Louisville is 4-2 SU in last 6 games
- Louisville is 3-3 ATS in last 6 games at home
Containing Pittsburgh might not be so easy. The Panthers average 71.8 points per game on the road, and have such a balanced attack that it’s no wonder a lot of people have made them reasonable outside shots for the Final Four. They’re also darlings on the road in online betting, with a 6-3 ATS record in 9 road games this year.
Pittsburgh has also been pretty dominant against Louisville for the past few years. They’re 5-3 SU and ATS in their last 8 games against the punchy Cardinals. The Panthers are also 3-1 SU and ATS in their last 4 games playing at the ridiculously named KFC Yum! Center.
The Cardinals are a dangerous team, but they haven’t always come up big against Pittsburgh and that’s really the point. Louisville’s big wins are so far and in-between that it’s almost impossible discern when it’s going to happen. That’s why I can’t encourage an online betting pick on them this late in the season with so much on the line for the Pittsburgh Panthers.
