Chicago has been an interesting team this season. With 6 victories (only 4 against the spread) they have surprised in the win-column, but underwhelmed on the field.
The Dolphins are dealing with issues of their own – at QB. Chad Pennington was knocked out of Sunday’s contest with a dislocated shoulder, and Chad Henne shortly followed. As of right now, head coach Tony Sporano said Henne might be available for Thursday’s game (over 3rd string Tyler Thigpen).
If Henne is healthy and ready to go, this is the same Miami team that has beaten Green Bay, Tennessee and Minnesota.
For this matchup, the Dolphins hold the edge in yards gained, time of possession, Red Zone efficiency, kicking and penalties. While Chicago has been scoring more, a lot of the smaller factors point towards a Miami victory.
Furthermore, Miami has covered in four of the last five games. In that span, they lost to Pittsburgh by one and were blown out by 16 points in Baltimore. Basically, they have been competitive in games, and lost to solid teams. I don’t see Chicago as a consistent enough team to give them issues.
The Over has hit in 10 of the last 12 Miami home games, and with these two teams, 39 seems a little low. Despite a short week (both teams played on Sunday), expect the offenses to play above a 20-point-pace. If you like the total to go over, play it before the QB news is released about Henne. If you’re looking at the Under, you might want to wait and see what develops.
The live NFL odds could change for the matchup as well, but with only 1.5 points to cover at home, I like the Dolphins chances at beating the Bears. The Dolphins are 6th overall against the pass and will be gunning for any of Jay Cutler’s mistakes.
Get your NFL Week 11 started off right with a big win during Thursday Night Football. Take the Dolphins and lay the points. Short weeks favor home teams – especially when the spread is so low.
