Lines on College Football – Boise State vs San Jose State

How bad will it get for the San Jose State Spartans when #3 Boise State visits them this Saturday? 

The Broncos are incredible 39 ½ point lines on college football betting favorites to beat San Jose State on the road this Saturday.  40 points seems like a lot, right?  Well, actually, in regards to this game, the Broncos are an overlay bet to cover at -40.

I’m going to call it -40 because by game time the spread, no doubt, will be around -40 to -42.  That’s how much faith football handicappers will have in the San Jose State Spartans to cover the 39 ½ point lines on college football spread after reading this article.

The lines on college football betting trends say that Boise State wins by at least 40 and possibly up to 50 points in this game.

• The Boise State Broncos are 12 and 3 ATS in their last 15 games as a favorite on the road.
• The Boise State Broncos are 8 and 3 ATS in their last 11 conference games.
• The San Jose State Spartans are 7 and 20 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
• The San Jose State Spartans are 3 and 13 ATS in their last 16 conference games.

Boise State is one of the best cover teams in college football.  It doesn’t seem to matter what sort of lines on college football the odds makers create for them in their games.  The Broncos find a way to cover the spread. The only game they didn’t cover the spread in this season was their game against Oregon State.

The Beavers lost 24 to 37 to Boise State.  The Broncos were favored by 17 ½ points in that game.  The Broncos have covered every other game this season.  Versus Wyoming, as a 22 ½ point favorite, Boise State covered by beating the Cowboys 51 to 6.  Against New Mexico State, as a 43 ½ point favorite, Boise State covered by beating the Aggies 59 to 0.  Toledo had no shot against Boise State in the Broncos last game.  As 38-point lines on college football dogs, the Rockets ended up getting their asses handed to them in a 14 to 57 blow out loss to Boise State.

Why do the odds makers believe that San Jose State won’t lose by close to 50 points to Boise State on Saturday?  Well, for one, the Spartans lost by only 38 points to Boise State Broncos last season, 7 to 45.  For another, Boise State takes on the Spartans on the road.

It won’t matter.  San Jose State is 1 for 5 straight up and 2 and 4 ATS on the season.  The Spartans have failed to cover a +38 ½ point spread versus Alabama in a 3 to 48 loss, a 29-point spread versus Utah in a 3 to 56 loss, and a -10 ½ point spread versus sub-division UC-Davis in a 13 to 14 loss.

I don’t see them getting close to Boise State on Saturday.  In fact, if the lines on college football stay to within Boise State -39 ½ to -42 ½ in this game, I feel that the Broncos are one of the best teams on which to wager to cover any of the lines on college football in the sport book on Oct. 16th.
