Latest College Football Lines Say that Baylor’s Magic Runs Out
November 6, 2010
The latest college football lines are telling football handicappers that the Baylor Bear’s magical rise to the top of the Big 12 South Division heap comes to an end this Saturday, Nov. 6th.
The Bears take on the 7 and 1 Oklahoma State Cowboys who would like nothing more than to use their home field advantage to drive them to a win and to take over first place in the South Division. Oklahoma State will need to beat Baylor because after Baylor they take on Texas and Oklahoma in 2 out of their final 3 regular season games.
Winning is one thing and covering versus the latest college football lines is quite another. Is Oklahoma State good enough to drop Baylor by at least 8 points?

The football betting trends favor the Cowboys in this game.
- The Oklahoma State Cowboys are 5 and 1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
- The Favorite is 10 and 1 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these two teams.
- The Baylor Bears are 0 and 4 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
- The Baylor Bears are 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS victory.
Football handicappers can’t help but be impressed by how the Baylor Bears upset the Texas Longhorns on the road last Saturday. Granted, the 2010 Texas Longhorns aren’t close to being as good as the 2009 Texas Longhorns but beating Texas on the road is a huge step forward for the Baylor Bear Football Program. The Bears, though, will need to put the upset victory into their rearview mirror because they take on a very good team this Saturday, again on the road, in the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Besides the 41 to 51 loss to Nebraska as 6-point dogs, the Cowboys have been very impressive this season with victories over Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Kansas State. The Cowboys’ D, which usually allows an average of 28 points and over 400 yards, put the clamps down on the K-State Wildcats, limiting them to 289 yards and only 14 points.
Oklahoma State is going to have to be just as good versus Baylor’s offense if they hope to cover the latest college football lines spread in this game. I’m not sure if Oklahoma State’s D can stop the Bears, though, and that’s why I’m leaning towards taking Baylor in this game.
The Bears average 34 points and 490 yards per game. That’s exceptional. Against Texas’ #5 ranked defense, the Bears racked up over 300 total yards, 30 points and 17 first downs. They could more than double those totals against Oklahoma State’s D. When Baylor is on defense, the Cowboys might find it tougher to score than what they’re used to.
Oklahoma State’s offense is exceptional. The Cowboys average 527 yards and 45 points per game. But Baylor’s D is better than a lot of football handicappers might know. Baylor only gives up 390 yards and 23 points per game. That sounds like a lot but in the whacky Big 12, it’s not that much at all.
The bottom line for me is that there isn’t a whole lot separating these two teams in terms of overall skills and, in fact, the Baylor Bears might have the slightly better defense. So, I have to take the team receiving points, particularly since they have a better defense, on the latest college football lines.
That team is the Baylor Bears.
