Latest College Football Lines Say that #9 Nebraska Dominates Idaho
September 11, 2010
The latest college football lines paint the #4 Texas Longhorns as easy winners versus the Wyoming Cowboys this Saturday.
It will be tough for the Cowboys to keep their minds on football after the tragic death of freshman LB Ruben Narcisse this past Monday morning. Wyoming head coach Dave Christensen is hoping that the trip to Texas will “ease the players’ minds”.

I’m hoping that it will too. When it comes to actual football, however, facing Texas on the road is going to be tough. Based on the betting lines, though, it appears that the Wyoming tragedy hasn’t affected how the odds makers are looking at this game.
Texas is a huge, amazingly huge, favorite against the spread versus Wyoming on Saturday.

NCAAF Betting Lines
Wyoming Cowboys +29 ½ -110
Texas Longhorns -29 ½ -110
Based on the ATS trends, the Cowboys should cover the 29 ½ point spread.
- The Wyoming Cowboys are 6 and 0 ATS in their last 6 games on the road.
- The Wyoming Cowboys are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games.
- The Texas Longhorns are 1 and 6 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games.
- The Texas Longhorns are 0 and 4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
What’s up with Texas? Although the latest college football lines have them beating the Cowboys by at least 30 points, history has shown that Texas just isn’t very good ATS.
The Longhorns didn’t cover last week against the Rice Owls. As 31-point favorites, Texas won 34 to 17. That’s right. They gave up 17 points to Rice and the 17 points were legitimate as Rice scored the first 3 points and then a touchdown before halftime on a 47-yard pass play.
Texas’ defense did step it up against Wyoming last season holding the Cowboys to only 10 points in a 41 to 10 victory. We may end up seeing a score close to that this season, but I’m not willing to bet on it.
Texas coach Mack Brown is one of the good guys in the game. He almost never runs up the score against inferior teams unless there’s no way not to. Because of Wyoming’s tragedy this past Monday, expect Brown to be even more sympathetic than he normally would be.
I expect the Longhorns to rush out to a 17 to 21 point lead. Then, I see Texas running the ball and chewing up clock. There’s no reason for them to run up the score against a grieving team.
The Longhorns didn’t cover the spread against the Cowboys in last year’s game. I don’t believe they cover this year either.
I’m backing Wyoming.
