Latest College Football Lines – Houston Looks To Rebound

September 25, 2010

Without a doubt, the latest college football lines will be affected by the injury to Houston’s star quarterback Case Keenum. The Cougars’ bench collectively held their breath in their 31-13 loss to UCLA last weekend, after watching their star quarterback be sent to the field with an injury after trying to make a tackle following an interception. Now, Houston looks to recover and get their act together in time for the visiting Green Wave.

Latest College Football Lines: What Tulane Will Have To Do To Win

The Green Wave suffered a terrible opening half against Mississippi and simply couldn’t recover. The Rebels scored 14 straight points in the first quarter, and took a commanding 24-3 lead in to the second half. By game’s end Tulane had nearly matched Mississippi yard-for-yard, including being penalized 50 less yards, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early deficit, and the Green Wave fell 27-13. If Tulane can avoid a second straight slow start this week they will undoubtedly be much better off, but will need improved play from their defense in particular to have a chance. The offense wasn’t terrible against the Rebels, and did manage to put up 27 against Southeastern Louisiana, but will have to shown poise in their first game away from home this season to keep this one close.

Latest College Football Lines: What Houston Will Have To Do To Win

After posting a combined 122 points in their first two games against Texas State and UTEP, the Houston offense was limited to just 13 in an 18-point loss to UCLA. It is no surprise that the offensive struggles came after the team lost starting quarterback Case Keenum. The fifth leading passer in NCAA history laid motionless after trying to make a tackle on Bruins’ linebacker Case Keenum after throwing an interception, and ended up paying for it as he left the game for the second straight week. The loss ended Houston’s streak of 29 straight games with at least 20 points scored, but the offense wasn’t the only concern. After UCLA averaged just 273 yards per game through the first two weeks, the Cougars allowed them to gain 365 yards. While it is highly unlikely that Houston won’t recover in time to beat the Green Wave, covering such a big spread without their star quarterback may be a little more difficult.

Latest College Football Lines: Outlook & Pick

The Green Wave have had two weeks to prepare for this game, but will be hard pressed to keep close against a much more talented team. The one thing working in Tulane’s favor is the injury to Keenum. Whether that’s enough for them to keep it close with Houston only time will tell.

Latest College Football Lines Pick: Houston – 21.5
