Knicks NBA Odds Dog versus Orlando on March 1
March 2, 2011
The New York Knicks are an online NBA betting odds dog versus the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night, March 1.
New York is one of the most exciting teams in pro basketball again now that they’ve acquired Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets. So far, it hasn’t affected odds makers as NYK isn’t even a small dog in the sportsbook versus Dwight Howard’s team on Tuesday night. They’re a big dog. Can NYK make it two covers in a row?

Check out some trends for this game.
• The New York Knicks are 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 road games.
• The New York Knicks are 1 and 5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up victory.
• The Orlando Magic is 10 and 2 ATS in its last 12 games as a favorite of 5 to 10 ½ points.
• The Orlando Magic is 4 and 1 ATS in its last 5 home games.
The Magic has been very good against the spread lately, but I don’t believe that they’ve been -7 points good. 70% of my fellow basketball betting peers actually agrees with me when I state that 7 are just too many points to give up to ‘Melo, Chauncey, and Amare Stoudemire. After starting out the new Knicks’ era with a 114 to 108 beat down of Milwaukee, the Big Apple’s Big 3 failed straight up versus one of the worst teams in NBA history, the Cleveland Cavaliers, 109 to 115, but NYK truly gelled in their last.
Down by as many as 15 points, the Knicks fought back against one of the best teams in the NBA, the Miami Heat, on the road and ended up beating LeBron, D-Wade and Co. 91 to 86 as 10 point dogs in the sportsbook. Miami had a 34 to 23 lead after the first quarter. All the Knicks did was hold the Heat to 17 points in the second quarter, 15 in the third and 20 in the fourth.
The reason I have to point out the totals that the Knicks’ D kept the Heat to after that first quarter is because it shows that NYK is capable of not only lighting it up on the floor, but also playing some gosh darn good defense. The Knicks are a complete team and that’s why they’re the pick to cover the NBA odds spread in the sports book on Tuesday night versus Orlando.
There are some awesome trends regarding the Magic in this game. I do not doubt that, but Orlando’s been facing suspect competition in their last few games. Beating the L.A. Lakers straight up 89 to 75 on Feb. 13 was nice but the Magic didn’t impress me too much by thumping Washington 101 to 76 and Charlotte 100 to 86. On Tuesday night, they play a team that can adjust to them and that’s something that neither Washington nor Charlotte can do.
Orlando’s D has been playing very, very well lately, but the Magic face a team that is as good defensively as they are on March 1. In a game between two teams with good defenses, I have to take the points if the points being offered in the online sportsbook are way more than I expected.
That’s the case for this matchup between the New York Knicks and Orlando Magic. I’m taking the points and backing the Knicks.
