Knicks at Bucks – Milwaukee tries to Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

March 10, 2009

The New York Knicks (25-37 SU, 34-27-1 ATS, 32-30 O/U) have lost two straight games and five of its last six overall.

The Milwaukee Bucks (30-36 SU, 35-29-2 ATS, 37-29 O/U) snapped their three-game losing streak the last time they took the floor but have gone just 3-7 over their last 10 games.

Both teams will be gunning for a victory when they meet at the Bradley Center tonight.

The Knicks lost to the New Jersey Nets 106-101 as a 5-point road underdog on Sunday while the combined score played Under the posted over/under total (220).

Overachieving forward David Lee led the Knicks with 19 points and 14 rebounds while sixth-man Nate Robinson added 17 points off the bench.

Small forward Richard Jefferson scored a game-high 35 points to help the Bucks beat the Golden State Warriors 127-120 on Saturday. Milwaukee failed to cover the 8-point spread as home favorites while the 247 combined points played Over the posted O/U total of 220 points.

Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and NBA Free Pick.

  • The total has gone OVER in 15 of New York’s last 18 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of New York’s last 5 games when playing on the road against Milwaukee
  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of New York’s last 8 games on the road
  • New York is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games when playing on the road against Milwaukee
  • The total has gone OVER in 8 of Milwaukee’s last 10 games at home
  • Milwaukee is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games when playing New York
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Milwaukee’s last 5 games when playing at home against New York
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Milwaukee’s last 6 games

NBA Odds:

  • New York Knicks +3½ -110
  • Milwaukee Bucks -3½ -110
  • Over 222 -110
  • Under 222 -110

Analysis: The Bucks have beaten the Knicks four straight times while covering the spread in three straight. Currently in desperation mode, as they fight for their playoff lives, I like the Bucks to ‘handle their business’ as they win and cover the spread against the struggling Knicks. These two Eastern Conference foes have played Under the posted O/U total in two straight and should make it three in a row tonight.

NBA Free Picks: Milwaukee Bucks -3½ Points/Under 222 Total Points
