September 25, 2010
Are the Kansas Jayhawks one of the best NCAAF picks to cover the spread this Saturday, Sept. 25 th?
Let me answer that question quickly so that some of you can go on with your lives. Yes, my friends, the Kansas Jayhawks are one of the best NCAAF picks to cover the spread this Saturday. Kansas towers over the New Mexico State Aggies in almost every phase of the game we call football.
Oh, I know that KU is only 1 and 2 straight up on the season, but they won’t have an issue against New Mexico State. Keep reading to find out why.

The wagering trends support my assertion that the Kansas Jayhawks are one of the best NCAAF picks against the spread this Saturday.
- The Kansas Jayhawks are 8 and 1 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
- The Kansas Jayhawks are 10 and 2 ATS in their last 12 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.
- The New Mexico State Aggies are 5-20-1 ATS in their last 26 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
- The New Mexico State Aggies are 3 and 8 ATS in their last 11 games on turf.
Kansas followed up their shocking victory over Georgia Tech by getting blown out by the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, 31 to 16. I actually thought that Southern Miss was going to do that the Jayhawks because the Golden Eagles are simply a better team than Kansas.
The same can be said in regards to this Saturday’s game but it’s Kansas who is the better team. The Jayhawks were thoroughly embarrassed to open the season by North Dakota State when losing 3 to 6 as 27 ½ point favorites. They bounced back a week later in that scintillating 28 to 25 victory over the Yellow Jackets as 13 ½ point dogs.
Then, last Friday night, Southern Miss blew them out 31 to 16. I’m not too worried about the Southern Miss loss because the Golden Eagles are a good team. I’m not too worried about the North Dakota State loss because the Jayhawks hadn’t even begun to figure out their offense yet.
But 22 ½ is a lot to give up to another college football team when your offense is ranked 91 st in the nation. Is New Mexico State really that bad? I actually feel sorry for Aggies’ coach DeWayne Walker. The former UCLA defensive coordinator has absolutely nothing to work with at New Mexico State.
The team is simply garbage. The Aggies have been outscored 83 to 31 in their first two games this season. They lost 21 to 41 to San Diego State and then10 to 42 to UTEP. Kansas is the home team, has the better players, and should have no trouble covering the spread.
Yes, even if it’s more than 3 touchdowns. Kansas showed signs of being a dangerous team in their upset victory over Georgia Tech a couple of weeks ago. New Mexico State hasn’t shown anything in two straight blowout losses.
The Kansas Jayhawks are one of the best NCAAF picks to cover the spread this weekend.
