Kansas City Has Nothing To Play For In Sports Betting Matchup Against Oakland
January 2, 2011
The title of this sports betting preview is intended to be misleading, because Kansas does indeed have a few things to play for. The first is a perfect home record this season. The second, and almost more importantly, is momentum heading in to the post season.
And besides this is a Chiefs-Raiders game. You don’t think Kansas would love to keep Oakland below .500 in the win column? C’mon man!

Traditionally this series has been even keel through and through. The Chiefs hold the slight edge with a 6-4 SU record in the past 5 years, but are also tied at 5-5 ATS with Oakland.
Kansas has been soaring in the scoring department averaging 23.7 points per game behind the unworldly production of Dwayne Bowe and Jamal Charles, who have helped make the Chiefs a tour de force in sports betting picks. Kansas is 9-6 ATS this season and know that they need to keep their offensive rhythm as the playoffs slam in to our faces next weekend.

NFL Sports Betting Line: Kansas -3.0 (43.0)
Oakland has had a great run this season, especially in the AFC West. They’ve been somewhat erratic on the betting line and only have one winning streak in sports betting this year when they went 3-0 SU and ATS against Denver, Seattle and Kansas City during the meaty part of the season.
Their own rushing attack has been incredible and Darren McFadden has finally proven that Al Davis isn’t a first-round draft busting idiot anymore. There are still plenty of things that need fixing in Oakland – namely the quarterback position – and this team is still just 3-4 ATS on the season when travelling.
I have stuck to my guns on betting Kansas at home regardless of the opponent or the situation (unless Brodie Croyle sneaks in to the starting lineup) and considering how much work this team needs to do to ensure Matt Cassel has completely healed from his appendectomy, I wouldn’t hesitate to take the Chiefs in sports betting picks this weekend despite not having much to play for.
