Ivy League Hoops – Smart Kids Making You Money
January 27, 2009
1: Princeton Tigers (5-1 ATS, 5-8 SU) (0-0 ATS, 0-0 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 1) The Tigers closed out their pre-conference schedule with a 64-44 win over Concordia. They’re 0-4 SU, but 2-0 ATS in their L/4 road games. Princeton won’t be back home until February 6th.
This Week: Away @ Dartmouth, Away @ Harvard
2: Yale Bulldogs (4-2 ATS, 7-9 SU) (1-1 ATS, 2-0 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 2) Though Yale picked up its second consecutive win over Brown, the 57-55 win wasn’t quite enough to cover the sports betting line in the second half of their home-and-home series with the Bears. The Bulldogs are 3-1 ATS on the road this season, and with four straight roadies coming up, that’s a good sign for their basketball bettors.
This Week: Away @ Columbia, Away @ Cornell
3: Columbia Lions (4-2 ATS, 5-11 SU) (1-1 ATS, 0-2 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 4) The losing ways for the Lions continued with an 83-72 loss at Cornell last week, but that won’t bother Columbia bettors any. They stuck in front of the two touchdown spread, but will try their best to notch their first ATS victory at home this week.
This Week: Home vs. Yale, Home vs. Brown
4: Cornell Big Red (6-5 ATS, 12-6 SU) (1-1 ATS, 2-0 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 3) Cornell picked up its seventh straight victory last week with an 83-72 win over Columbia, but the 12-point margin wasn’t enough to continue its three-game ATS winning streak. The Big Red still haven’t lost a game at home this season, and should find this week’s games go without a hitch.
This Week: Home vs. Brown, Home vs. Yale
5: Dartmouth Big Green (4-3 ATS, 3-13 SU) (2-0 ATS, 1-1 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 5) Dartmouth pulled off one of the bigger upsets of last week when it knocked Harvard off 75-66 in overtime as 15-point underdogs. Still, the Big Green have lost five straight home games, and with four straight at home on the horizon, that’s a trend that must be reversed.
This Week: Home vs. Princeton, Home vs. Penn
6: Harvard Crimson (2-5-1 ATS, 9-7 SU) (0-2 ATS, 1-1 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 6) Over two weeks off saw Harvard come out rusty in its 75-66 loss to Dartmouth last week. There’s no reason to believe that the Crimson shouldn’t challenge for the Ivy League crown this year, but if the rest of this five-game home stand goes like the opener did, there won’t be any hopes for March Madness.
This Week: Home vs. Penn, Home vs. Princeton
7: Penn Quakers (2-6 ATS, 4-10 SU) (0-0 ATS, 0-0 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 7) The Quakers lost both of their out-of-conference games last week, which included a poor 80-68 loss at St. Joe’s. College basketball bettors have had no luck backing Penn this year, but the Quakers could turn things around in conference play which kicks off with a pair of road tests this week.
This Week: Away @ Harvard, Away @ Dartmouth
8: Brown Bears (2-6 ATS, 6-10 SU) (1-1 ATS, 0-2 SU in Ivy League) (LW:
Brown picked up its second cover of the season last week by splitting its sports betting proceedings with the Bulldogs. After a two-game ATS slide on the road, the first of this five-game roadie was a success for college basketball bettors.
This Week: Away @ Cornell, Away @ Columbia
