Incredi-Bulls – Chicago vs. New York
April 7, 2009
New York opened as 8-point dogs, but the oddsmakers quickly corrected the line down a half-point. Does that mean our oddsmakers have more faith in the Knicks than Vegas? Absolutely. And the trends lean that way. Chicago is on the verge of a stunning playoff berth, thanks to the stunning play of Derrick Rose down the stretch.
Rose and Gordon have been a lethal combination on the perimeter, 39.4 points between the two of them. Chicago is nestled in to the seventh spot, with a tie breaker over Detroit. They simply have to keep winning to stay in the playoffs. The Championships won’t be a possibility for the Incredi-Bulls, but the playoff revenue in the midst of a recession is every owner’s wet dream.
NBA Betting Trends
-New York is 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games
-New York is 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games on the road
-New York is 1-5 SU in their last 6 games on the road
-New York is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against Chicago
-Chicago is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games
-Chicago is 8-3 SU in their last 11 games
-the total has gone UNDER in 6 of 9 games when playing at home against New York
The Knicks, meanwhile, snapped a four-game losing streak by getting their revenge on the Toronto Raptors 112-103. So what’s the deal here? Do we trust the Knick and a strong spread record on the road? Or the Bulls, who have een ridiculous against the line these past few weeks.
My money is on, not only the Knicks stiff road record against the betting line, but their success against Chicago overall. Taking the Knicks with a 7.5-point cushion means less stress for you, especially since Chicago can still let up 100+ points on any given night like they did to Toronto and Indiana.
New York Knicks (30-47) vs. Chicago Bulls (37-40)
Tuesday, April 7th — United Center, Chicago — 8:30pm EST
NBA Betting line: Chicago -7.5 (219.5)
The UNDER has been the name of the game when Chicago clashes with the Manhattan Knicks. The only time this game hit the OVER in recent memory was a 105-100 total last year, and on a 187.5 total two years ago. I like the UNDER on an inflated hope that Chicago and New York get in to a shootout.
Furious Free Pick: New York +7.5 (UNDER)
