How Far Can Michael Vick Fly with The Eagles
November 17, 2010
Maybe it’s me BetOnline NFL football betting enthusiasts, but I think it’s only fitting that, after being vilified as the world’s worst human being by many for his role in an illegal dog fighting ring, that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is back to doing what he does best – and not only that – but doing it better than he ever has before.
That’s right pro football gamblers, thanks to the absolutely jaw-dropping play of Vick this season, the Philadelphia Eagles enter their Week 11 matchup against the division-rival New York Giants as arguably the best team in all of football while Vick himself looks like the clear-cut leader of this year’s MVP race.

Pro football betting enthusiasts that like the Birds to reach and win Super Bowl XLV or Vick to win this season’s MVP award, can place a potentially bankroll-boosting wager on either selection against the value-packed NFL Futures Odds in the BetOnline Football Sportsbook.
Here is a look at the value-packed NFL MVP Odds.
NFL MVP Odds
Aaron Rodgers +200
Adrian Peterson +1000
Chris Johnson +1500
Drew Brees +2500
Eli Manning +300
Mark Sanchez +1500
Michael Vick +500
Peyton Manning +200
Phillip Rivers +500
Tom Brady +800
Analysis: While NFL betting buffs can see that Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Indianapolis Colts signal-caller Peyton Manning – Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning – are all favored over Michael Vick to win this year’s MVP award.
However, Vick has taken the clear-cut lead in my estimation with a string of stirring performances, including his most recent outing where he looked like a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Vick lit up the Washington Redskins by completing 20 of 28 passes for 333 yards and four touchdowns while rushing eight times for another 80 yards and another two touchdowns.
To be totally honest abut it, Vick has almost single-handedly lifted Philadelphia into title contending status – and if you don’t believe that the Birds’ success has been mostly because of Vick – then just look at how mediocre they looked under former starter Kevin Kolb!
If the regular season ended today – then Michael Vick would be my unanimous MVP. Of course, I want to warn members of the BetOnline NFL pro football betting community that Vick very well could get robbed out of this award as I suspect some dog-loving voters may not vote for Vick simply because of his role in the dog fighting scandal.
NFL Super Bowl Odds
New England Patriots +800
Baltimore Ravens +800
Green Bay Packers +800
Pittsburgh Steelers +850
New York Giants +850
Atlanta Falcons +850
New York Jets +850
Philadelphia Eagles +900
Analysis: The Eagles are the eighth-best favorite to win Super Bowl XLV at a value-packed +900, but they’ve suddenly got the look of a very legitimate Super Bowl title contender, thanks mostly to the contributions of Mike Vick.
Philadelphia is ranked third in offense and an impressive second in scoring (28.6 ppg) and has been virtually unstoppable because of Vick’s improved ability to pass out of the pocket – and make chain-moving first down runs when all else fails.
I know the Birds are ranked a dismal 22nd in scoring defense (23.2 ppg) but I believe they can overcome their defensive shortcomings if they continue playing the explosive brand of football they’ve shown recently on offense.
In the long run, two questions beg to be answered. Can Mike Vick win the MVP award and can Philadelphia win the Super Bowl.
My answers? Yes and quite possibly.
Lest anyone forget, I hail from Philly so I’m always going to be a bit skeptical about a team that hasn’t won a league title since last hoisting the NFL championship trophy way back in 1960,long before it was even called the ‘Super Bowl’.
Still, I will say it’s quite possible the Birds could pull of the Super Bowl win in what has been one of the most parity-laden regular seasons in recent memory.
