The big story on the injury front heading into this football odds matchup is the health of two of the top pass catchers in the AFC at their respective positions.

It’s a case of good news for the Texans and bad news for the Colts, of course.

For the Colts, tight end Dallas Clark, a focal point of the offense and one of QB Peyton Manning’s favorite targets over the course of his Hall-of-Fame career, is expected to be out for the season.

On the other side of the coin, Andre Johnson, the Texans’ WR star and perhaps the top player at his position in the NFL, should be back and ready to go at or near full-bore this Monday night.

The Texans are 4-1 in in their last 5 NFL odds matchups on the road against the spread which is a big stat in their favor. But Houston has lost their last 5 trips to Indianapolis and has only won 1 of their last 5 games ATS overall.

A big part of that trend is Johnson’s health, however. He is integral to the Texans’ defense and a big reason why Matt Schaub and co. are capable of putting up big numbers. He could torch Indy on Monday night.

The Texans are just 27th in the league against the pass, however, and that spells doom against Manning and the Colts, who still have go-to guys available at the WR position despite the loss of Mr. Clark.

Go with the Colts at home in this one where they play well against the Texans indoors.

NFL odds betting pick: Indianapolis Colts (-5 ½).
