Horse Racing Picks and Analysis – Gulfstream Park

Gulfstream Park will start to really heat up in mid-January. In the meantime, sports betting fans still need to pay attention because some very good horses could potentially run in races as overlaid betting options.

The last time Kiss the Kid was seen on the track was in the Grade III Cliffhanger stakes at the Meadowlands in October. He won that race fairly easily and now gets to show online racebook fans exactly what he can do against what some horse betting fans might believe is a tougher field. I’m not sure if it is. Kiss the Kid can throw in a clunker, like when he finished ninth by 33 lengths at a minor stakes race at Monmouth two races back, but usually he’s right there. Trainer Amy Tarrant also owns this fella. So, we know she believes in him. He’s a nice overlaid odds horse in this race.

Pick Six – - 12/1 online betting odds

Okay, so Buddy’s Humor, who beat Pick Six in Pick Six’s last race by a ½ length is 4 to 1 on the morning line while Pick Six is 12 to 1. Huh? Online racebook fans have to think about taking advantage of what looks like an error in the morning line if horseplayers go ahead and don’t adjust it with betting. Pick Six is trained by Claude McGhaughey, ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, and just busted a fantastic work on January 4th. In other words, he’s coming up to this race just as well, if not better, than Buddy’s Humor.

A.P. Magic – - 20/1 online betting odds

What’s wrong with A.P. Magic? Absolutely nothing. This 2.3 million buy son of A.P. Indy wasn’t too great in his last race, but he has the speed to stick with Buddy’s Humor and jockey Joe Bravo is going to be a huge step up for him. He should be rated much kinder with Bravo on his back and there’s no telling how good he could be if his class shows. He’s a long-shot but a nice looking long-shot.

Wagering Strategy

I’ll bet Kiss the Kid to win and place at online betting odds of 5 to 1 or higher. I will also use Kiss the Kid, A.P. Magic and Pick Six in an exacta and trifecta box.
