Horse Pick of the Day – Indiana Downs Race 4
May 20, 2009
Indiana Downs is the sight of Tuesday’s horse pick of the day, a spot horseplayers can find a big overlay in a race at a small track.
Such is the case in Race 4 at Indiana Downs on Tuesday night. There are some good horses running in Race 4 and Racebook players should really take a hard look at the race. A money making opportunity is definitely there.
Let’s analyze Race 4 at Indiana Downs on Tuesday night.
Indiana Downs – Race 4
State Bred Allowance $31,000 n4L
For Registered Indiana Breeds Three Year Olds and Upward Which Have Never Won Four Races
6 furlongs on dirt
Check In Advance – - 4/1 morning line
The son of Fast Freddie can lead or stalk, gets the rail, and is simply the fastest horse in this race. He’s coming off of a 5 ½ furlong win on the slop at this racetrack and has won three in a row. Jockey Fernando De La Cruz has been on him for all 5 of his races. His record of 3-1-1 out of those five races makes him the play on class. Since he follows his class up with speed, he’s a big overlay in this at 4 to 1.
Wall Street Charlie – - 10/1 morning line
He could easily get the lead and, if nobody goes with him, run off for a victory in this. On paper, it looks like there will be a lot of early speed, but sometimes jockeys see that and decide to pull back on their horses leaving a true front runner like Wall Street Charlie out there on his own. He could be on his own which means a victory isn’t out of the question. At odds of 10 to 1, he’s worth a long look.
Sold Out – - 5/1 morning line
This 4 year old gelding has been in excellent form lately going 2-2 in his last four races. He usually shows speed and could be right with Wall Street Charlie early, but he can also lay off he needs to. He will present the stiffest challenge to the top pick, but don’t surprised if he does enough to pass that one in the stretch. He’s got a good shot in this.
Wagering Strategy
I’m going to bet Check In Advance to win and place. I will put Check In Advance, Sold Out and Wall Street Charlie into an exacta and trifecta box.
